When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna turns regret into re-set by going back to college... landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who's not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna – now Dee Rock – embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.

To me, this movie is perfection.
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
You know immediately when a movie is cheap when the opening scenes involves long shots of a car. Quickly followed seconds later after the parents drop their daughter off at the college when on the way out the husband tells his wife he wants a divorce to marry his real love, which as usual, seems to be a realtor (why so common in movies, I don't know). The rest of the movie consists of mom deciding to enroll in the same college to complete her final year that she missed to have her daughter. A lot of highly implausible made-up students end up either liking or disliking our out of step mom. Movie consists of predictably weird, and not at all believable interactions between all parties - meant to be humorous, but just sooo dumb. FF to the end and for some reason Christina Aguilera makes a cameo which seemed as out-of-place as the rest of the script. I've like her singing in the past, but her brief cameo song was a pointless disaster. This script would have made more sense if converted to a horror flick.
There's just not much movie in this movie. Lots of the dialogue feels improvised. I'll always give Melissa McCarthy the benefit of the doubt, but a casual fan may want to skip this one.
Are you ever frustrated whilst watching a movie at a cinema because you can't just press "pause" to go to the toilet or do something else without missing anything? Well this movie definitely won't give you that sense of frustration - no matter how much of it you miss, you'll still feel like you've watched too much of it.I'm thinking maybe Falcone owed someone a massive favour, but if I was in his position I'd have chosen cement shoes over creating this train-wreck.McCarthy was never really much of an actress - never really much of anything, really - and she doesn't disappoint with her appearance in this flick. Think Roseanne Barr without the appeal (now that's really saying something!).With writing that wouldn't earn a pass mark in primary school and acting that would evoke eggs and tomatoes if it was performed in public, you'll be gnashing your teeth in no time at all.
Wasn't expecting too much after watching I Feel Pretty (4). I laughed a bit more during this movie. There were a couple twist which is good. Not a great movie. Only ok, more for women. It's a hard (5) not higher and not lower.
