Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
I'll tell you why so serious
A Masterpiece!
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
This adaptation of Crane's story about a both a soldier's struggle and triumph is a timeless message that speaks to generations well ahead of its time. The relevance of the theme can still be seen today , roughly 60 years after production date and 150 years after the actual war. The acting was superb in most areas (except for battle scenes but granted special effects were not present), only further conveying the story line and the true horror that faced these soldiers every day. There truly was no glory for them until well after the triumph, and even then the generals would receive the credit anyhow. Audie Murphy performed no less than perfect portrayal of such a soldier under these exact circumstances. All around a great film.
One of the best movies I've ever seen! It showed true faith in troubling times, and shows how someone can come from running away to a true figure of courage! I totally recommend this movie to anyone! It really showed me what it takes to rise and overcome your fears
The movies plot is set during the American Civil War. This movie mainly shows the events of the Battle of Chancellorsville. The movie shows all aspects of the war including music, thoughts/feelings of the soldiers and the damage that is done. The movie mainly revolves around one character, Henry which shows his growth during the war. He starts off questioning why he is a soldier and is very frightened but ends up being very brave and sure of himself in the end.
Superb war film!A company of soldiers in the fore front of the American civil war are facing head-on combat battles with their enemy. One youthful soldier is terrified of his situation and the question is: how -if at all- will he handle his fears?Excellent atmospheric battle scenes. The viewer can taste and feel the blood and the dirt and the fear. Brilliant direction and camera work with a very intelligent script to match. Great in black and white but I wonder if this picture could be colorized. The cynical viewer might see in this movie lambs being manipulated and sent to the slaughter, but that said:More than 60 years old, why can't they make films like this nowadays???8/10
