A group of teenagers are invited to participate in a summer musical program to hone their singing and dancing skills. After eliminations by judges, a grand prize winner is chosen.

In the series premiere of High School Musical: Get in the Picture, Nick Lachey hosts the West Coast auditions, in which teens sing their hearts out to make it to the next round.
The eastern semi-finalists sing and dance hoping to secure a spot in the finals, and the ones selected will perform duets at a theme park in Orlando, Florida. And six competitors get selected to visit the HSM Campus.
