Killing Our Best Friends: The Crisis of Pet Overpopulation
Killing Our Best Friends: The Crisis of Pet Overpopulation
In 1994, filmmaker Bill Millios made a 30-minute documentary film, Killing Our Best Friends—The Crisis of Pet Overpopulation, to call attention to the staggering number of cats and dogs that were being put down in New Hampshire animal shelters just to make room for other homeless animals. The film includes interviews with people who were working throughout the state to save the lives of these animals and discussed ways that could be done. "Absolutely fantastic - very well-done, informative and conveys an extremely important message about the responsibilities of pet ownership." WGOT-60, Manchester, NH.

Once Every Day
Once Every Day
Since the late 1960s, the almost annual productions of Richard Foreman’s Ontological-Hysteric Theater have been among New York’s artistic highlights. A legend of the avant-garde theater, Foreman is also a passionate film fan, whose taste ranges from American avant-garde to Manoel de Oliveira. ONCE EVERY DAY marks his first foray into feature filmmaking in 35 years. Highly visual, complexly edited and without a traditional narrative, the film zeroes in on a group of 25 people acting out a series of semi-ritualistic behavior patterns. But their eccentric impulses are aborted in unpredictable ways with each attempt at action or development. According to the director, “The film slowly evolves a time-mosaic of reformatted consciousness.” Longtime admirers of Foreman’s work will see an intriguing adaptation of his unique theatrical style to the cinema. And for everyone else: Welcome to the extraordinary world of Richard Foreman.

The Tent
The Tent
The Tent extrapolates an eventful fictional narrative from a black-&-white printed booklet and the body of art that it features in its pages. Presenting artworks with reduced economies, the book, a 1972 Arts Council publication entitled Systems, includes drawings, documentation of works, and photographs of the artists in the ‘British Systems group’, along with extended texts written by each of them. The video’s imagery is derived from recording both the object of the book and the images it contains. The videography employs experimental, high contrast exposures that will cause white pages to bleach away almost entirely, and black pages to intensify so that they become suggestive of spaces rather than surfaces; so that the diagrams/images on those pages seem to float in voids.
