Descent into Fungal
Andrey Shental's Descent into the Fungal' is dedicated to the planetary power of mushrooms. The narrative is divided into two storylines. The main one is a popular presentation of basic scientific facts and latest discoveries in the field of mycology. This storyline is interleaved with utterances of the fungal bodies themselves, which declaim something akin to their own particular credo or manifesto. This combination results in it becoming clear that the relationships the fungi foster with their surroundings (mycorhiza, parasitism, saprotrophy and endophytia) refer unambiguously to contemporary political programmes. In addressing the human audience, the turbantop, hard-skinned puffball, saffron milk cap and other fungi present revolutionary scenarios and a programme for a future world order on non-human grounds, anticipating the struggle against human capitalism.

Via Dolorosa
The Via Dolorosa, also called "Way of Sorrow" winds along narrow street of Jerusalem's Old City, leads from the Ecce Homo Convent to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre. This is the traditional route Jesus followed carrying his cross from Pilate's Judgment Hall in the Antonia, to Calvary Hill, or Golgotha, the site of the cruxifixction. Along this route are the "Fourteen Stations of the Cross". Each station marks an event of sacred memory, with chapels for reflection, convents and monasteries of devotion, and the sacred basilica for commemoration. Station 1 "Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium" (John 18:28). Jesus is condemned to death, and on Friday afternoon, when Franciscans started the devotion of the Via Dolorosa, the courtyard of Omariye College is crowded. The minaret located at this place called Antonia Tower marks the site of the Roman Fortress where Jesus was condemned.

Gay Alien Shame Parade (GASP!)
Created for Nuit Rose, an arts festival at Pride Toronto, 2017. The previous year, Black Lives Matter - Toronto intervened in the Toronto Pride parade, resulting in significant changes to Pride 2017. Among the most controversial of BLM-Toronto's demands was the "Removal of police floats in Pride marches and parades." The artists were surprised and disturbed by the frequently negative response to this demand from largely cis white men that they encountered on social media and in person. These men had no memory, nor understanding, of the long history of police violence against the LGBT+ communities, and especially against People of Colour, a history that continues today. In solidarity with BLM-Toronto, the artists animated a satirical Shame Parade in another world, composed entirely of floats that document police violence against the LGBT+ communities in the greater Toronto area from the 1940s to the present day.
