What The F@#- Is Cancer and Why Does Everybody Have It?
What The F@#- Is Cancer and Why Does Everybody Have It?
On April 10, 2011, Allison W. Gryphon found a lump in her breast. Three days later, she was diagnosed with stage IIIa breast cancer. Allison’s immediate instinct was to pick up a camera and start asking questions. Not only for herself, but for all of us. For many, cancer is a cell under a microscope. For others, it is a symbolic ribbon, a local fundraiser or a jar calling for help in the checkout line at the grocery store. Cancer is something different to each individual going through it. It’s all relevant. It’s all important. Cancer is about science, study and the practice of medicine, and most importantly, cancer is about people. What the F@#- is Cancer and Why Does Everybody Have it? is about understanding and celebrating those people. It’s about really hearing their voices and being invited to share those experiences in a way that will allow the viewer to walk away with inspiration, questions, knowledge and hopefully a desire to understand more and make things happen.

Le Hameau
Le Hameau
In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Bertille Bak met a sibling group of 5 hunter-skidders living independently in the heart of the Alsatian forest, in the hamlet of Ursprung, whose daily life she then shared. Guardians of hunting quotas, animal species regulation, trackers and woodworking, the artist observed the organization of the hunting troops, the traditions and codes that survive and are perpetuated. In her film Le Hameau, Bertille Bak plunges us into the world of this family, a timeless immersion in the Ursprung, which literally means "the jump of the watch" in Alsatian. Close to the research of the ethnologist and concerned by social conditions, Bertille Bak collects and archives the traces and testimonies of the people she meets. With melancholy derision and without taking sides, the film focuses on a singular reality. The result is a delicate questioning of the boundary between the domestic and the wild, the personification of animals and the precariousness of marginal lifestyles.

Free Derry: The IRA Drug War
In February 2014, letter bombs were sent to nine British Military recruitment offices over the course of three days. Londonderry postmarks, a coded message sent to a Northern Irish newspaper, and security forces at Downing Street all pointed" to the New IRA as the main suspects. "Last Summer, VICE News visited Derry and heard from Gary Donnelly - the most prominent dissident republican in Londonderry, accused of leading operations for the Real IRA - that these attacks on Britain were to be expected as part of 'strategic attacks on high profile targets,' as 'it's England that's occupying Ireland.' "In 'Free Derry: The IRA Drug War" VICE News investigate how, sixteen years after the Good Friday peace agreement and on the eve of the first major loyalist parade through the city in four years, dissident republican activity in Derry is increasing thanks to the merger of the Real IRA with anti-drugs vigilantes."
