With trust in governments low and media fractured into an infinite number of contested opinions, conspiracy theories are an appealing way to understand the world. They project human intentions onto complex events to explain why things happen and assign blame.
Yer Old Faither
Set in the industrial town of Whyalla, this is an intimate portrait of John Croall, a Glaswegian immigrant to Australia, and the father of long-time Adelaide Fringe director, Heather Croall. John Croall delivered three generations of babies and planted thousands of trees in the town. He was also a great letter writer, and this very personal documentary uses these letters as its point of departure. Heather Croall films with her father as a way of coping with his approaching death and reflecting on the close, and often very funny, relationship between a father and a daughter.
Infinite Canvas
"Infinite Canvas" is the debut documentary film of award-winning photographer Ryan McGinley, and follows each of the seven artists as they explain their creative approaches to AR. In 2018, McGinley traveled to discuss augmented reality with creatives around the world. The documentary focuses on the creative experience of making art for AR, encouraging the artists behind it to talk about their process, motivation, and perspective on the intersection of creativity and technology. McGinley talks with Nick Cave, Nathalie Djurberg, Hans Berg, Carsten Höller, Budem Pit, Cao Fei, Pipilotti Rist, Sarah Rothberg, and the celebrated late poet John Giorno.

Tapes
The tapes in the program consist of some of Mekas’ earliest cassettes from the 1990s not long after he first began working with video as well as more recent mini-DV tapes from 2010s. The contents of the tapes have not been previously seen in their entirety. The footage provides rare insight into aspects of Mekas’ video-making practice, as well as his activities, thoughts, dreams, and concerns, especially during the later years of his life.
