One of my all time favorites.
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
I enjoyed Part 3 in the Friday the 13th film series. I know that it's dumb at times, but you gotta know what these films are going into them, then judge accordingly. I think I liked this one better than part 2, and I for sure liked it better than the first film. The characters were good enough for this type of film, Ginny was a good survivor and star, and I also really liked Rick's character too. Some of the kills were kinda creative, and they weren't like overly disturbing because of how old this is. There are really only two simple things I want in these movies. One: characters that I don't hate, ones I can like enough to watch. Two: when things get going, try to keep my attention and don't be super cliché and dumb. I feel like for the most part this film gave me those two things. Would've been interesting to have seen it in real 3D. 8/10 for Friday the 13th Part III.
Steve Miner continues to direct the Friday the 13th franchise and follows up with a box office hit Part II, which greatly surpassed his previous sequel Part II. Friday the 13th Part III sticks with the continuity of the first two films but also has to add the long unneeded setup that highlights the ending of the last film. Within ten to fifteen minutes of watching the new characters and hearing the dialogue, its obvious that the route the writers took was a more comic, campier style that wasn't present in Part II. The biggest problem however with Part III is the characters, the biker gang was really shoehorned for little reason but to die and there are a handful of annoying characters, especially David Katims's role. Friday the 13th Part III has some entertainment value to it, but when it boils down the quality there are definitely better options out there.
Continued Crystal Lake bloodletting, now with 100% more hockey mask. Characterization has improved from the pitiful showing in Part 2, but that's close to the textbook definition of a backhanded compliment. We still endure some painfully awkward social interactions and idiotic decisions from the cast, and linger too long in their dry, boring daylight scenes. The series has moved past the camp counselor-as-victim model, though it doesn't seem to make much of a difference: these generic teenagers don't behave much differently. Jason continues to be omnipresent, basically signifying a transition point between every scene. Time to move our perspective into the bedroom? Well, let's just cram a shadowy figure or heavy work boot into the end of the preceding shot. Don't forget the trademarked stalking/heavy breathing melody. His problems with closing the deal also persist: the guy is downright psychic for the first dozen kills, but when the number of survivors drops to one or two, all of a sudden he can't get out of his own way. Sloppy and poorly made, like many of the era's horror movies, but also oddly charming for many of the same reasons.
This is definitely one of my favorite Jason movies! Whenever i watch it i make sure it's night time, I'm alone, with popcorn and 3D glasses. This is just such a great early 80s slasher movie! The acting is fine for me, but at times i can notice how bad it is. The deaths are pretty good. Jason in this movie is creepy looking. Something that may explain why i love this is when it's night time, everyone is doing their own thing, and they are slowly being killed by Jason. When i watch this, i always get creepied out, and it's really scary. This is the scariest Jason movie. So overall, this movie, along with the theme, is just awesome!
