As Good As It Gets
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Before I start the only saving grace of the insipid little horror (I use the term loosely) is the beautiful Kiele Sanchez, I have seen her in other movie such as Redemption and must say Kiele must have phoned in her lines cause they weren't worthy of this talented actress. I haven't seen the first movie which starred another fine (Australian) actress in Mellisa George so it is hard to compare if a comparison is required. The lack of a good script, devoid of any real shock horror and the characters were to say the least 2 dimensional. I wouldn't waste my time with this predictable bloody mess read a good book instead.
Change in actress Melissa George from the first movie to Kiele Sanchez sucks. Blood not convincing enough to be kool aid. Actress is wearing the ugliest underwear during the PG sex scene. Characters are all babies for a supposedly bada** group of vampire hunters. The character Todd definitely a snooze fest and all the characters spend the whole time crying and complaining about the situations they put themselves in.. The Title doesn't fit plot...how is it 30days of night or dark days in the middle of sunny California. It was more fun setting up an IMDb account and writing this review than it was watching the rest of the movie. I couldn't even tell you how it ended. But on the bright side though Lilith had a sweet dress. The sex scene was over with pretty fast. It didn't have a shaky camera for the most part. The vampires costumes were pretty decent. The makeup, besides the blood, was convincing. In summary, not the best, but not the worst vampire movie out there.
Watch this movie if you are having a frustrating day and need to release some anger by yelling at the TV screen. The screenwriter and director should donate they're pay to charity. A shameful sequel to a great original. Worthless is a compliment. The acting and dialog in this movie is some of the worst I've seen in a horror movie...as if that is so needed in this genre. For true vampire fans you will be insulted. For those who enjoy horror and are above the age of 18 you've seen it all before and done better. Steve Niles and Ben Katai need to find new lines of employment because if I see your names in the credits I will avoid watching. I just wasted 90 minutes of my life and I want a refund of time and money.
I have trouble with this sequel, as I do with most sequels, because the inconsistencies (in plot) are just too great. It took about a third of the first movie for me to get used to the vampires basically ripping their victims apart, more zombie-like than vampire. Then, in the sequel, Lilith (obvious reference to the Queen Mother of all demons from Hebrew folklore) is in charge and bathes in blood, making it even less likely that the other vampires would waste that much blood. I know, I'm just too picky. And while Stella was doing voice-overs, she could have explained how the other survivors dealt with the aftermath, thereby filling in the gap, especially with her stepson. It would have taken two or three sentences, there were only like 3 or 4. One last thing, the ending was WAY TOO PREDICTABLE and silly.
