From my favorite movies..
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
This movie sucks, but I tolerate it because it was the start of a far... FAR better show. Seriously, even if you hated this movie, you NEED to give the show a chance. The movie gets 47%
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is just three episodes of the cartoon series squashed together; I'm not even kidding. Initially, this film was made from three-to-four pre-existing episodes of the show and just plopped together and then released for the movies? The television show is great stuff, but THIS IS A FULL THEATRICAL RELEASE with the Star Wars name on it!? How did this get approved for a theatrical release? The plotting is muddled and there aren't enough story strands to justify the feature-length extension this got. What a let-down.This film, to this very day, is the ONLY Star Wars film I haven't seen at the movies. And I'm honestly glad I didn't. It would have hurt me.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars to be honest with you feels like it could have been better off as a direct to video release. How this film got a theater release is a mystery. The film took me four tries to watch and after finishing the film finally I can take the time to review the film.I try to keep in mind that this film was gear to a younger crowd it also serve as the pilot to the TV show that would come later. Interesting enough I could be wrong but they took the first episodes written for the series and fuse them together to make this movie. The results are a mix while it does introduce to the characters we know before and new characters.Animation wise for this film does interesting work not bad design for the character models and the effects of the film work for the series to come.Voice acting is a work ranging from good to huh? But there are some pretty funny wise cracks that got me to laugh so there is something for the adults. There is some nice music as well. Also the film does film like a hour and 30 minute TV pilot while I give them points for putting it together they could have made it a Direct to Video or Made for TV movie it just not one strong enough for theatersWhile Star Wars fans will enjoy it and it will work for the younger fans it just the results were not strong with the force as it could have been it's not a bad movie but just could have been moreI give Star Wars: The Clone Wars an 6 out of 10
The main problem with this movie was that it was released in theaters, giving fans the impression that it was the next Star Wars movie. However, it's really just the pilot episode of the Clone Wars TV series, and as the pilot episode of a TV series it's solid. Go into it expecting this and I think you'll enjoy it. But if you're expecting the next Star Wars movie you'll most certainly be disappointed. The episode itself is fairly middle-of-the-road, as far as the series goes. The plot is pretty straight-forward and not particularly exciting, involving Jabba the Hutt's child being abducted and needing rescue by the Jedi to establish a strategic advantage in the war against the Separatists. The stakes just never seem particularly high, and the main goal seems to be just to introduce the characters and the basic premise of the show. There are much better episodes of the TV series, but we don't normally judge an entire series by a single episode, and although this episode isn't particularly great, the series itself is quite impressive, only getting better as the series progresses. So I do recommend watching this as the beginning of a very enjoyable TV series!
