Excellent adaptation.
To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Mrs. Voorhees is dead, and Camp Crystal Lake is shut down, but a camp next to the infamous place is stalked by an unknown assailant. I was no fan of the original 'Friday the 13th' and 'Friday the 13th Part 2' was no different i'm afraid it was just as pointless and stupid as the original was. The acting was freaking terrible, the pointless nudity and sex scenes added nothing to the storyline plus the cheap kills and really dumb special effects made for an even worse film. Jason might be alive but this Friday the 13th? I'd suggest to not see this..
The film suffers from 2 major flaws. 1. complete lack of logic and coherency. 2. A plodding plot which just re-hashes the first movie but with less pace and tensionThere's no point going into detail but ending scene makes no sense at all and what Jason is and how he came to be makes no sense at all. Terrible storytelling with a complete disregard to plot, story or characters.
Set 5 years after the (superior) original Jason makes his debut as Crystal Lake killer, taking over from his dead Mum, who's decapitated head sits in a sort of shrine in his woodland shack. Viewers will have to wait until part 3 for him to don his iconic hockey mask. Like the first movie part 2 benefits greatly from Harry Manfredini's soundtrack. The pace of the film & nudity have also been turned up a notch. However, 48 seconds of gore & violence were removed at the request of the MPAA, so sadly the gore is down from the original (Mrs Vorhee's beheading is thankfully repeated in all it's glory). The film does also have a few gaping plot holes - how did Jason survive all this time? How did he track down the Final Girl from the original? However, at the end of the day this is pretty much the perfect stalk-and-slash movie - if only we could get those 48 seconds back!!
This film is a sequel to "Friday the 13th" and differs little (or even nothing) from its predecessor. The recipe is always the same and its common to all slasher films. Unfortunately, its the second of an almost endless succession of films of very reduced quality, that have haunted the cinema since then. There is nothing new here: it's more of the same.
