Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

I have always hated Nicholas Sparks. He is not a bad writer; I just don't like his writings. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like there's no point in watching a Nicholas Sparks movie. Its usually a nice romantic story, but then in the end someone will die, most of the time it's the main character who we have learned to love throughout the movie and we will be heart broken thinking what the hell is the point of his troubles if he cant even spend 10 minutes with the girl. The lucky one is an average romantic drama. It's the perfect movie to see over hot tea or hot chocolate alone on the couch at night. I said alone cause I know most guys will have a bad time having to sit through this kind of movie haha. I kept shouting 'what the f are you angry for' in front of my TV because I honestly don't get the girl in the movie is angry, I cant even remember her name. If a guy, as hot as Zac Efron would keep my picture as his lucky charm and then walk a freaking distance to find me and treat me right, I would welcome him with open arms. I would be touched. Why would I be angry at all? If anyone knows why I really would like to know cause I'm curious. The plot is mediocre, typical Nicholas Sparks, the actors are okay, not too convincing, but okay, still tolerable, especially cause Zac Efron is really hot, he doesn't look like a kid anymore. Keith tried too hard trying to look mean, he doesn't even look like a bad guy. Zac doesn't reflect a marine at all, he is too soft. The girl doesn't look in love or sad or whatever, she's kind of emotionless. The best actor is probably the kid. The setting is quite pretty, I really loved the forest. Overall a 6/10

This movie is one of the best romantic movie I have ever seen. Zac Efron's acting was mind blowing. The ex-marine Logan returned his homeland after three war. During the war he got a picture of a lady. He tried to find the owner of the picture but he didn't. The most interesting mater is that that photo brought good luck to him due to that photo he was saved several time. So he determined to find that lucky savior who brought good luck to him & wanted to thank her but when he met her he got something else. He got a job. So now the main story is started. I love this movie. Taylor schilling was the leading woman. She was really perfect for the role. She did that really good. I watched this movie several time. Love to watch it again & again. The finishing was perfect.

To begin with the positives, "The Lucky One" has beautiful photography. I enjoyed almost all scenes, feeling pleasure looking at the scenery. Also there were a couple of strong moments in there. Sadly though, those are the only positives.I expected much much more by Zac Efron, although not a fan of his I kind of considered him a good actor that his acting was being overseen because of his good looks. But I seriously felt that this movie proved me wrong (although I do hope he will again prove THAT wrong in the future!). You know the character is in pain and fighting his own emotions, but that it, you have to imagine the agony yourself since Efron just doesn't take that out on screen. He is just... emotionless. Yeah, sure, some people when suffering tend to look like statues, but even then you can see a spark of their suffering in their eyes. Here, there was nothing. On the other part, I felt as if Taylor Schilling was OVERacting/reacting at times. That -and the fact that she looked as if she could be his mother- didn't help in their more romantic encounters. The plot was simple and you kinda knew what to expect next. They could probably keep it at least 10-20 minutes shorter without us missing anything. It still though was a nice movie to watch to pass your time, so if you've got nothing else left to see and you want a simple romantic story then I would suggest this. If you do have something better to see though, then better skip it.
