Really Surprised!
Better Late Then Never
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

As a girl who believes in true love and love at first sight the first look of this film seemed good to me. However, as I began to watch the film after reading nothing about it to begin with I was surprised to find out it was a story about a inspiering writer. As someone who wants to become a journalist this film was perfect for me and this film has definitely inspierd me to believe in myself and carry on working towards journalism. As a want to be writer and am believer of true love how could I have any disappointment about this film? This film is a sweet-hearted film that in my opinion is suitable for any age. Throughout the film the message I received was you cannot forget about your true love and no matter what age you are, old or young it is there. Love is a thing that will never die and this film showed me this. This film is perfect for anybody who wants to watch a cute and amazingly told love story. I would definitely recommend to someone to watch and I am certain to watch this film again. This film shows you comedy, humor, happiness but, it did make me cry of sadness and happieness. I hope one day that I find love this strong. I know its out there. Its just about findig it. Overall I think that this film is excellent and most certainly worth a watch. I just hope you get the same feelings as me while watching it.
This was a really good story, with the added attraction of Vanessa Redgrave and her now-after-a-long-wait husband Franco Nero (Okay, I cheated, Wikipedia), but all the others are so drippy. It could have been a whole lot funnier and snappier. The book was written in 2006, and the movie came out in 2010. Don't these people use the internet?! I'm assuming that is how they found all those Lorenzos, but Sophie only had her laptop open once. Besides the awkward technical details, there is little chemistry between Sophie and Charlie, although we know from the beginning that they will get together. One hates to blame the director, as he died not long afterwards at the tragically young age of 49, but it just doesn't hang together as well as it could have. Makes me want to read the non-fiction book. And watch Redgrave and Nero in Camelot again...
Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is a fact checker for the New Yorker. She goes to Verona for a pre-honeymoon with her future husband Victor (Gael García Bernal). He's an obsessive chef, and she wants to be a writer. As he falls in love with the local food scene, she gets tired of it and finds the "Secretaries of Juliet" who answer the love notes left at the fictional Juliet's courtyard. Then one day, she finds an old note left unnoticed for 50 years inside the wall of the courtyard.I love both Amanda and Gael as actors. The movie is a little too cute with their relationship for its own good. Their problems shouldn't be so passive. Then Vanessa Redgrave comes in for the second half to sweep everybody off their feet. Christopher Egan is the English cold fish son. Maybe he's too good at playing the cold fish. They look like a magazine photo shoot couple without the chemistry. Gael and Christopher may be better off switching roles. Christopher just doesn't have the heat that Gael has.
