I love this movie so much
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Premium Rush is a fast-paced thriller/drama flick and a lot of the scenes on the road with the fast bike-riding are actually very entertaining and makes a change as opposed to fast-car movies, but there are a couple of major problems - one being that there are no likable characters, the main good guy character is not likable at all, he has a positive trait which is his vigilance about people and potentially road-dangerous situations, but that is not enough to make this guy likable, he is a childish character who likes to call people "douchebag", but the fact is he himself is a "douchebag" which by definition is an obnoxious person, this is how i would describe this character "Wiley", he has an attitude problem and he along with a supporting character feels they have the right to sexually harass their female co-worker.Another character who is supposed to be a good guy is this Chinese woman, she does nothing but snap at people and is not likable at all.The dirty cop character is actually more likable than these people.I've streamed this flick several times and tried to overlook the negative aspects, i even brought it on Amazon Prime Video a few weeks ago, but just before i started to write this review i deleted this movie from my video library after attempting to watch it again, the mixed feelings about this cine have now turned to instant dislike.
PREMIUM RUSH is a very silly Hollywood action thriller with a difference: all of the action involves a bicycle courier in New York finding himself chased by a corrupt cop. The film is very odd in tone, feeling like a kid's film throughout with goofy humour and stylistics, and yet featuring a torrent of bad language that automatically raises the rating. The nice-but-bland Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes the lead role, an innocent who just so happens to be a whiz on wheels. The surprisingly dire Michael Shannon is the villain of the piece; I love this guy in most of his stuff, such as BOARDWALK EMPIRE, but he's embarrassingly hammy here, trying really hard to be quirky and funny but never succeeding. Dania Ramirez is the token pretty girl along for the ride. The film's action scenes are watchable and fast-paced, but blighted by CGI effects which are embarrassingly bad in places; you'll think you're watching an Asylum movie. The plot has no place in the real world so a massive suspension of disbelief is required. The end result is a missed opportunity, although not without wasted potential.
This was quit interesting, the plot in it self could seem a little thin, but it actually works out very well. I like the comic like scenes, where time slows down and Wilee (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) sees the options in traffic he has and what will happen or more go wrong if he picks the wrong one :)This is not like other chase movies, usually chases happens in cars or on foot or motorcycles, but this one is mainly on bike, having been a bike messenger myself it looks very familiar :)The film was suspenseful, interesting, fun, thrilling, serious, well it was all-in-all very entertaining for my sake.
'Premium Rush' is indeed A Thrill Ride! Its furiously paced, crisply written, correctly directed & also well-acted. In short, a good watch!'Premium Rush' Synopsis: In Manhattan, a bike messenger picks up an envelope that attracts the interest of a dirty cop, who pursues the cyclist throughout the city.'Premium Rush' works almost throughout. The story moves on a furious pace, although I must say, the pace slightly slows down in its second-hour. But, things get back on track with a lifting climax. The best aspect about 'Premium Rush' is its brisk pace, that never allows you to slow down. David Koepp & John Kamps's Screenplay is indeed well-done, delivering an engaging tale. David Koepp's Direction, on the other-hand, is perfect. Cinematography captures all the madness with zeal. Editing is superiorly done, as well.Performance-Wise: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the right guy for the part & he shines. Michael Shannon is the show-stopper, though. He nails it as the antagonist. Dania Ramirez is effective. Jamie Chung is very sincere. On the whole, 'Premium Rush' has merits.
