A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

Disney's Dinosaur really sucks! As a guy who loved dinosaur movies as a kid I thought this thing was the greatest hit ever, but the truth is, from an adult's view, I can't say that I love this movie that much. It could have been really great, but big changes caused this movie to be ruined. I'm gonna explain why this movie sucks but before I do, I wanna praise the good in this movie. First of all the movie itself looks amazing! The opening sequence is one of the best compliation of Dinosaur scenes ever! The CGI looks really good, even today, and I love how many real life places were put into the shots to make the movie feel real. Even though the movie gets kinda boring to look at later, the sweeping shots of the deserts and canyons really look authentic. I'd also like to mention that any scene with a Carnotaurus is automatically awesome. I know that's what a lot of people would expect but it makes the movie a lot more watchable when I see these awesome predators on screen. Now there are a few other scenes like the meteor crash that I like but it can't save the movie. One of the biggest problems is that this movie is dumbed down for kids. I can't tell you how much I wish those dumb talking lemurs weren't in the movie. I'm not judging this movie for scientific inaccuracies because there are quite a few in this movie, that's not the point of this review. The moment that they start talking, the movie drops from 10 to 4 in a heartbeat. It kills the movie! Making this movie into a wordless epic with Dinosaurs might have made this film a prehistoric sensation next to Jurassic Park! But for some reason, they couldn't deal with that! We had to see Dinosaur Moses traveling around in the desert with English speaking monkeys! The moment they talk, everybody else talks, and that causes a chain reaction that makes the awesome story dull and lifeless. It falls victim to the Avatar effect even though this movie came out years before, in fact this might have been the movie that started the Avatar Effect. With awesome visuals and graphics comes a boring and dull story that we've seen before, countless times! The story itself is just an exodus story to the promised land with a young dinosaur moses. His name is Aladar but I really don't think he's that interesting of a character, he doesn't do anything that special mostly because he's a generic good guy. He's not bad or anything, but he's definitely underwhelming. The same goes for the love interest Dinosaur and the elderly Dinosaurs, though they are somewhat more interesting, definitely more interesting than the one dimensional bad guy. The only character who is a dinosaur that also talks that ends up good, is Brutar. Brutar is a really cool character and I so badly wish that he was the main protagonist instead of Aladar. But none of these characters are as bad as the dumbass lemurs! They are boring, stupid, and annoying to look at. I hate em. I'm giving this movie a 6/10 because the music from James Newton Howard and the cinematography is excellent. There are also enough scenes to make this worth a watch, but it's a disappointing mess that really hurts to watch. This could have been great, but it wasn't and since it wasn't I can't help but say that it is a disappointing film that was ruined by breaking the golden rule of "show don't tell."

I haven't seen this film since I was a little kid. I watched this because my little sister But the animation in this film is amazing. It seems different from the 3D animations Disney is doing these days. The characters don't always look extremely realistic when looking at their face, but every hair on the fur of those lemurs is visible to the eye. And every scenery, which apparently are sometimes actual real locations, is extremely beautiful. I can't compare the visual side of Dinosaur to any other animated movie. Nothing comes close. But that's where that ends. The plot doesn't feel too interesting to an adult, of course children might think it's exciting. The plot and everything else is mostly just typical Disney stuff and nothing extremely interesting. The best part of this film is no doubt the visual side.

I have seen this movie many times over the years with my older children and they all have loved it. I have just introduced it to my 2 yr old. He loves it too!! After only a few days he knows almost all the words. Its an entertaining movie, that has a great story line of friendship, love, and acceptance for children. It shows how being a friend to all no matter what species, and age wins in the end. It shows how being mean and tough doesn't get friends. And to those that are complaining about the accuracy for the time period, I am pretty sure that the dinosaurs didn't talk either. I do like this movie better then the Land Of Times movies for kids. if you are looking for accuracy try a documentary

I loved the opening to this movie, which was one of the most interesting 10 minute openings I have ever seen. It reminded me of Milo & Otis, but all of the excitement and interest wrapped up in a mere 10 minutes, instead of an entire movie - and Milo & Otis was good too! The animation was so lifelike that I was regularly unsure what was computer generated and what was real. And this came out in 2000? Seriously, but for the 3D elements, this was a lot better graphically than Avatar - and this was some 9 years earlier! Truly a masterpiece of cinema. The story was very interesting though it lost a couple of points for: 1) unnecessarily making the dinosaurs appear a bit too much like humans and 2) in many ways the story ripped off The Land Before Time - though not entirely. It wasn't a big hit at the box office and if you watch it, you can see why. They tried to make the dinosaurs relatable by giving them human-like features, including their front legs looking and acting more like hands than they should. They even had some dinosaurs that acted more like dogs! Perhaps this is justifiable in a sense but it isn't actually realistic. The story was a good moral lesson for kids and generally I think would be great for kids to watch but it also had something in it for adults, and adults could enjoy the lessons. The story was genuinely interesting and not at all predictable. While there were violent elements, I would still think that children could enjoy it. Overall, a very good piece of entertainment.
