The Gathering
The Gathering documents the annual round-up of the endangered wild Carneddau mountain ponies in Wales. It is organized by local farmers and is the only intervention in the lives of the ponies, who otherwise graze undisturbed in their protected mountain habitat. The film follows the event from close up and becomes increasingly entangled in the complex dynamics of capturing and caring for them.

HelioTrope
HelioTrope is a multichannel moving image and sound installation that uses digital breakage to create an image that is consumed by itself. It is full of inversions - a sun (sign) that absorbs as well as emits, a mythologized but recognizable world full of unsettling and dreamlike solar imagery and a strobing city at night illuminated by dark light. HelioTrope is a metabolic sci-fi/horror that works on the senses. Inspired by recurring themes of haunted media in popular film and television, the work is self-reflexive of its own tropic nature and is grounded in histories of telecommunications technology and paranormal phenomena.

The road, the house, the key, the animals, Bamssi. Images with the urgency of an Instagram story create a dialogue within the family across the sea: Mourad and Fairuz, Tunisia and abroad. You have to go to the roof to see something of the surroundings: the railway behind the house. Away from the house, away from home. Street dogs and cats in front of the house. Without a house, without a home. The sound of the train carries a disturbing longing. The image of the sea opens up a dangerous desire. To stay. To dream. The Sorbs are a national minority in Saxony, Germany. While there were still living approximately 50,000 Sorbs in the 1990s, today there are only 5,000 left who can speak the language. The core settlement area was destroyed by coal mining and the language is now threatened with extinction. But the community of Crostwitz sticks together, traditions are cherished and community is lived. Despite limited resources, the football club, which forms the centre of one Sorbian village, has bravely held its own in the regional league, Saxony's second-highest division, for years.
