Documentation film of the exhibition 'Light Cycles' by Guy Sherwin which took place at the Christine Park Gallery between the 13th and 27th February 2016. Solo exhibition by prominent British filmmaker Guy Sherwin. The exhibition will include seven film installations, each centred on a single object or quality of light. The films will be projected onto different physical surfaces, including a drawing, a mirror, and a suspended paper screen.

Marcelina Aguilera, Ananías Retamal, Felipe Méndez and Conradino Contreras will accompany us on an exploratory journey where, in their stories and experiences, we will see reflected some of the landmarks, myths and rites of these lands.
The Flow
This lonely 80 years old grandma is living with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson. Her son and daughter-in-law are always occupied with work and seldom have time to spend with her. Her grandson is locking himself in his bedroom. Two of them communicate only by notes. During the day grandma is bored, she takes care of one lonely fish, has problems with high blood pressure and often reflects on her life. In the evening her blood pressure is high which makes her think that tomorrow might not come. Because of that, every night she is preparing for her death. The next morning will come with or without her.
Henri Rousseau, or The Burgeoning of Modern Art
Henri Rousseau started to paint in Paris around 1880, at the age of 40. This self-taught artist was friendly with the poet Apollinaire, Robert Delaunay and Pablo Picasso, who recognized his genius, and yet his work was to remain underrated during his lifetime. However, with its dislocated compositions and profoundly dreamlike subject matter, it was to have a decisive influence on modern art, from surrealism to abstract art.

Living in the Past
This film re-animates stereoscopic images of Melbourne from the 1920s. Technically the film makes a statement about how each new iteration of moving image technology reclaims artifacts and gestures from the past. Such an archeology enables the viewer to approach these images in new ways. Further, just as the image has become unstable so have our beliefs. Living in the Past recycles Jethro Tull’s lyrics to indicate that we no longer understand the political situation we live in. Capability Brown's Unfinished Garden
Capability Brown is known as the founder of landscape design. In the 1700s, he created some of the most magnificent landscapes in England. He travelled the length and breadth of the country, improving more than 200 of the greatest estates in the land for some of the most influential people of the 18th century. But there is one plan that never got off the drawing board. The only land Capability ever owned was in Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire, but he died before he could carry out any plans for his own garden. Today, it is a piece of flat land bisected by the A14 dual carriageway. Landscape designer and Gardeners' Question Time regular Bunny Guinness travels across England to some of Capability's finest landscapes - Blenheim, Burghley, Milton Abbey and Castle Ashby - to understand what he might have created. Rediscovering plans and letters, and using the latest technology, Capability Brown's unfinished garden is brought to life.
