It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

The best action-adventure b-movies are full of chessy clichés. And indeed Crash and Byrnes is certainly no exception; right down to the part where a flight of F-15s suddenly turns into a flight of F16s.However, the chemistry between the two leads, Wolf Larson and Greg Ellis ( Crash and Byrnes respectively )make the movie somewhat fun to watch. The " Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid" brand of sarcasm used by the two makes for a laugh every now and again.Of course, as would be expected with a movie of this kind, there will be no oscars awarded in any category. But if you can handle a lot of chesse, you might come away with at least a little smile on your face after watching it.

I saw this one on cable. The acting is passable, but the direction is confusing and spastic and the story is pretty uninspired. It is basically a big formula buddy cop film about two "mismatched FBI agents" whose zany antics make for the rather thin character bits in this piece. Overall not unwatchable, but pretty tired stuff.

***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** Wolf Larson of L.A. HEAT fame costars with Greg Ellis (TITANIC) in this wacky little espionage thriller that borrows elements from the buddy- cop genre; the same genre that made LETHAL WEAPON and 48 HRS. so famous. Unlike L.A. HEAT, Larson is the more straight-arrow of the pair, com- pared with his bull-headed HEAT character Chase McDonald. As "Crash" Riley, he teams up with a wild British DEA named Byrnes, played by Ellis (who looks more like an anorexic Backstreet Boy than a DEA agent!). Together, they combine forces to stop a terrorist named Lisette, who plans to kill the president and to wipe out the whole city of Seattle with a deadly biological weapon. And guess who will get the blame if all this comes according to plan? The CIA of course! Larson and Ellis work quite well together, although their constant bickering can get annoying. Plus, the action sequences are marred by dizzying camera angles. But, all said and done, CRASH AND BYRNES would be a promising thriller, thanks to the performances of the two leads (especially by Ellis, who walks away with the film with his crazy antics.).
