Purely Joyful Movie!
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
An intense and beautiful take on mental health that deals with its subject matter with tact and respect. In a world where mental health in film is so often overly-trivialised or simply ignored, it's refreshing to see a piece that accurately represents the everyday anxiety and uncertainty that comes with such problems.More specifically, however, it's a very tragic story of protagonist Bill slowly losing his grip on reality. As such the film is presented in a manner that often feels like the unfocused ramblings of a man lost in his own thoughts. Bill regales us with memories within memories, memories that are perhaps inaccurate and memories that may even be entirely fabricated. The way the unreliable narrator method of storytelling is used throughout is extremely effective, and although it may feel a little confusing or disjointed at times it all comes together wonderfully in a way that feels thoughtful and very well-considered.An incredibly unique piece of art that any amount of description can't really do justice. One of my favourite things to sit down and watch whenever I'm feeling down or uncertain or if I simply want to get lost in thought. Guaranteed to leave a lasting impact if given the time and attention it deserves.
"You are forgiven".It's Such a Beautiful Day is directed by Oscar wining Don Hertzfeldt, has the story is split into three chapters of are main character's life. The main character is called Bill, who's memory is slowly failing and has Absurdism visions. This 62 minute film takes you the viewer on a journey inside this mans daily life and he's past. While watching the movie I quickly noticed that the stick man character Bill was a bit like me in some scenes, for example: he makes up people in his head that don't exist in real life just because everyone around him feels the same, just like me when I was younger. Bill is also awkward to be around and he's not sure about everything really. Straight away Bill is already an interesting character that I understand him deeply as a person. It's very clear that Don Hertzfeldt had a vision and a voice for this movie and all of those two things was seen and heard in this movie, because Don vision came to life in animation. That's the best part of this movie is the animation as it had that moody and yet strangely beautiful feel to it that can't be explained. The animation was intriguing and perfect for a movie like this. It's Such a Beautiful Day is a bold, emotional, intriguing and challenging animated movie. If you haven't seen this movie then I say it's worth checking out.
What I can tell you is that "It's Such a Beautiful Life" will resonate with you in such a deep way. It had been sitting in my Netflix queue for some time and I'm not exactly sure why I watched it when I did. It was random, middle of the day on a Saturday. Five minutes into it, I had to pause to prepare for what I knew this was going to be: a beautiful tapestry of thoughts and philosophies charged with meaning. There were instances where certain things were said and words appeared on screen with timing that was just perfect and my breath was literally stolen from me. By the end of the short, I had to just bury my head in my hands and just cry. Not because it was overly sad or anything, but because it was reverberating with me so much. It was as though you've known this all along but had long forgotten - like it was from a past life. You WILL enjoy this film whether you are seeking some sort of existential comfort; if you are a fan of Don's work; or you're just curious about it. It's very much like previous shorts of his. You will find yourself laughing, crying, relating. And some of you might find yourselves changed forever.
Been a long time since I've seen a truly unique film. This film has a structure like no there and is such deep meaning at so many points. The idea that life has no meaning but a deep meaning at the same time is very important personally right now. I'm sure anyone who sees this film will have their heart filled by it, yet feel empty and lonely at the same time...actually exactly like life. Animated or life action means nothing if you are telling a story that is really worth seeing. This is a must see 9/10 from me and WOW the random humans mustered it up to 8.3/10 I'm impressed :) I actually have to watch it a second time right away, and will watch it with a friend one day.
