Fifteen minutes from Victor's life are cigarette smoke, a casual conversation, a glance of a woman who flashed by, the crowns of birch trees under the windows, drowning in the sun – all fleeting images add up to a kind of ladder that helps to return to where you don't want to go back.

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
