Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Thoroughly enjoyed this film, Lou plays the part of the upset father/grandfather perfectly, locations and rest of the cast perform as they should, yes it's a lower budget film and sometimes it shows , but highly enjoyable if you like this type of film (which I do) also helps that was filmed in my home town and many of the locations I see everyday, It's on the par with the original death wish movie,
i would like to give only 2 start, old story line with same revenge drama with action scenes without sense. poor screen play poor action sequences poor cast poor story line. in start i was really expecting some good action because of the strong character of villain shown in move but later on table turn around like we are watching a dream and hero start killing big gangsters like nothing without getting single wound from them.
It goes without saying that John Bradley has a couple of contacts no matter where he goes in this film. He hooks up with his old buddy Colonel Neal and gets the type of guns and resources that a man intent on killing a lot of people might need. John's relationship with Neal reminded me a lot of the John Rambo/ Col. Trautman relationship in First Blood. That is a very good thing to be said for any movie! Ferrigno has found the fountain of youth. The man has bulging muscles straight out of a comic book the guy is in fantastic shape for a man who gets a Social Security check each month. Director Ara Paiaya brings us a fantastic addition to the rape revenge genre. This is like Death Wish crossed with The Hulk. The action is superb and the filming and editing style gives us a very gritty feel that fits this style of movie perfectly. If you like Commando, Death Wish, First Blood and The Hulk. This is the perfect mix and top class action revenge movie by a very talented filmmaker. The soundtrack is very 80's and is a must watch.
I love a good action movie cliché. It only takes 23 minutes for us to get to a strip club! Lou does a run-in on the strip club from earlier and bitch slaps a bunch of the guys before beating the utter pulp out of everyone and taking out the boss man. Ferrigno's fighting style is very tree-like. I mean, the man is 65 years old so he can't be expected to move like he's still 25. His bulking size keeps it from looking too ridiculous at any point and I bought in pretty quickly. Cult classic!
