It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Some films cannot be understood in 1 watch while some are abstract THE LAST LEAR is like that. It takes time to understand the film. The film has an interesting story but the way it's handled it is interesting but not for everyone. Amitabh's dialogues and his hatred towards films is well handled. There are other subplots too well handled, though some things are left unexplained like the accident part could be clearer. Direction by Rituparno Ghosh is greatAmitabh Bachchan plays the part superbly, he is the life of the film Preity Zinta is fab in her role, Arjun Rampal is great too Shefali Chaya won national award for her role does a great job, Divya Dutta is good too, the others are good

The Last Lear is a movie directed by one of the best director of our film Industry Rituparno Ghosh.I used to watch all his movie and for me,perhaps this is the best movie given by him.The person who adds four moons in the movie is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. The way he acted in the movie was just mind blowing. This is one art film that you can not afford to miss. It's an intriguing movie in typical Ghosh style, where people quietly sit and talk and the narration is by means of flashbacks. The story is that of an ageing and ailing stage actor being persuaded to act in a movie, which happens to be his last, and has been left in a coma as the aftereffects of the shooting.

The coming together of director Rituparno Ghosh and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan along with Preity Zinta,Arjun Rampal and Shefali Shah is what makes the last lear really special for its fans. No doubt the film is really good as could be seen during its world premiere at Toronto International film festival, where it received tremendous reception and was highly appreciated.Amitabh Bachchan who plays the role of Harish,a Shakespeare age stage actor is brilliant in the film. This could be said to be his best performance till date. All the stars in the film,be it Preity Zinta,Arjun Rampal or Shefali Shah, are exceptionally good in the film. People should see the film to see Amitabh Bachchan's brilliance. The Last Lear is a very intelligently and well-made movie. Shakespearean dialogs and references are used cleverly. Amitabh Bachchan is mesmerizing.

A very decent movie,it has been beautifully made by Rituparno Ghosh and should be watched to see the beautiful performances by all the casts. Each and every character portrayed in the movie was mind blowing and as i had said about its title, its characters suits it the most and no other actors would be as good as these in this movie. The story was very interesting and the best part is idea of taking an old,Shakespearean theater actor (Bachchan) and casting him in a motion picture is intelligent. All the other characters are well-written. Every character is portrayed as a struggling person. The way Bachchan ji has played his part is mind blowing and for me it is one of the best film by him till date.
