It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
Don't listen to the negative reviews
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
I knew the score, i knew those Ulli Lommel's movies where extremely low budget, i knew they where pretty bad, yet i got 2 of them out of a pawnshop 3 for 10$ bin. The BTK Killer and Green River Killer... I watched the BTK first, and well i was surprise how the menu was pretty well done... I mean if that is so low budget... i was expecting a silent static menu screen. Turned out the menu was the best thing of the whole movie...Yes its shot on some cheap cam, i knew that and i don't mind it too much honestly, but sadly there seem to be no real plot, just the killings linked together. And if i was expecting this movie to be at least brutal, for an horror movie, it even fail at that... Its not that its so bad... its just dull. I mean, you don't follow the police or whatever, just the killer and even the killing and "tortures" are uninspired and uninteresting. This movie really does looks like it could had been shot by university students on a 1000$ budget... and even there... I'm generous.Anyway can't say i was not warned... i took the shot anyway, but well if I'm lucky ill be able to resell it for 1 or 2$ anyway... so well... The only problem is i still have The Green River Killer to watch... damn... lol. No but seriously doing stuff on the computer and such and putting this on the background make it goes better, like i said it ain't as terrible as some people said, i would say i disliked way more Cabin Fever and it was a big budget, but its just dull and uninspired...Unless your on a quest to watch every horror movie ever done, i would say skip this, it ain't worth 2-3$ and the time to spend. Would it had been my friend's university project or something like that, i would had say not too bad, but as a real movie... its too cheap. But i got to say the main actor really was interesting to watch, he really looked like a psycho, i think he was very decent, the rest where forgettable, from OK to bad.
I am kind of amazed by how completely non-factual this movie is. It's like claiming your movie is "loosely based" on The Wizard of Oz because there's a scarecrow in it. I mean, after a certain point you just have to admit you made the whole thing up, right? For those of you interested in the BTK case, go elsewhere. This film follows the story of a man named Dennis Rader, who hides his career as a serial killer from those closest to him, but it is wrong in almost every detail--from the number of murders to the victims to the methodology to how he was eventually captured. Most insultingly, it also implies that his wife and daughters knew (or at least strongly suspected) that Dennis was a killer and said nothing until the police confronted them. I hope the real Rader family sued for libel. The film does not even stand on its own as entertainment. It's a poorly made, poorly scripted abomination, through which a handful of fairly decent actors are forced to slough. It is boring, implausible, and ridiculous. I might have forgiven it for being a bad movie if it was accurate, and I might have forgiven it for its lack of accuracy if it was entertaining, but it failed on all counts.
Very cheaply made. It was so awful, I couldn't bear to watch more than 10 minutes. Anyone who made it past 5 or so minutes has a lot of determination and maybe patience hoping for it to turn around and somehow get better. Acting and film quality was so poor, it's truly unbearable. Sounds like they did what they could, saw the pitiful results, and still hoped to get a quick buck turnaround on this monstrosity. The film looked like worse than a cheap porno homemade flick, possibly overstock film never used from a couple decades ago, im not sure though. The type of film you use for a basic 50 buck video camera at best buy.
No words can describe my utter hatred for this appalling rendition of the BTK killer. Rating this film one out of ten compliments this truly disastrous excuse for a film. From start to finish, there was not one single highlight. The entire thing was horrendously put together; the script, acting, plot, lighting, direction, ACTING, factual information, ACTING, just to name a few. A number of scenes are literally laugh-out-loud-funny, for the atrocious way in which the entire thing is put together. This review may seem like an unjust and scathing attack on a low-budget film, but this is not the case. Just thinking about the movie I have just seen makes my blood start to boil. How this film was ever granted rights for production i will NEVER know. I am almost tempted to actually recommend BTK, because it is truly a stand-out in regards to how pathetic, and disturbingly awful it is. I can honestly say, in all my years of film-going, this is the WORST. MOVIE. EVER. I wasted over an hour of my life on this useless garbage, and would gladly have jumped off the nearest building beforehand, had I known what I was in for. ZERO out of TEN.
