It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
This was a good movie for what's been on TV for kids lately, with interesting settings, clothing and plotline. Kirsten Storms(who plays Zenon) is a tallented young actress. If you're looking for a movie and you have kids, watch this!
Kirsten Storms yet again succeeds. She was the perfect Zenon. The plot in this movie was about a 9.8 out of 10. The sets where great and the costumes were lets say "FABULO!" And to top it off great characters and script. This for sure was not one of those career ending sequel's. I just hope that they will keep this show going. Zenon: The Zequel will be in my list of favorite movies for sure!
The first Zenon movie was hilariously kitschy. This "zequel" however is not only unfunny, but unremarkable. Greg is written out of the whole movie by having him break up with Zenon at the beginning, mistake #1. Zenon's parents and Nebula are portrayed by different actors, mistake #2. The movie is almost saved when Margie (the hilarious anti-hero of the first film) arrives on the scene and makes Zenon's life a nightmare...unfortunately she becomes Zenon's friend, mistake #3. Then we have this horrible subplot with aliens (rainbow colored specks), mistake #4. And that's basically the movie. And oh yeah, they rip off the ending of the first movie, having Protozoa and his band Microbe play a new song, Galaxy is Ours which is alright but weak compared to Supernova Girl. This is painful major. The novelty has worn off. The first movie was creative and cheesy. Chelsea Clinton was president, everyone drove VW Bugs, people played games with spinning milk cartons, everyone liked to hack and kids had funny lines like "it was never you he liked it was the car!" Let me be the first to ask, why was this "zequel" ever made?
Ever since the last Disney Channel original movie -- "The Ultimate Christmas Present" premiered when they first aired the very first promo for "Zenon: The Zequel" I have been really looking forward to this movie ALL month long and right up until the premEAR of it on January 12, 2001 -- two years after the premEAR of the first one ("Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century") in which I have also been a fan of as well. This movie is basically everything I could have hoped it would be and more with one minor drawback -- that the producers were unable to get the FULL cast of the first one back to do the sequel. Still, the important characters were still played by the same actors/actresses (Kirsten Storms, Lauren Maltby, Stuart Pankin and Phillip Rhys as Proto Zoa.) Stuart Pankin is simply hilarious and a GREAT actor -- in both "Zenon" movies as well as in "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves". Kirsten Storms (Zenon Carr) is even better in this sequel than the first movie, though she still gave a fantastic performance in the first one. Her arch-earth-nemesis, Margie (Lauren Maltby) is in this sequel a lot more than she was in the first one and also gives a fantastic performance. The opening scene (after the voice-over introductory scene) is just absolutely so well done and hilarious! This really does a great job of grabbing the viewer's attention and will make the viewer want to keep watching the rest of the movie for anymore just-as-hilarious scenes as this one. So I don't ruin the movie for anyone, I won't go into detail and describe it here but just let me say that it all starts off with a very innocent little computer game that turns out to be a REAL game and proves to be disastrous-major!It's original movies like this one that really keeps me looking forward to each and every Disney Channel original movie every month as well as collecting them all for my video library!
