Truly Dreadful Film
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
It is very difficult to choose between this third one in the franchise, and the 2000 original. Go for both, you will not be disappointed by either! I do think Kirsten triumphs over Hayden, but dynamic force scene-stealer Solange Knowles really knocks the socks off of Gabrielle Union. Really! Again, though, it's that thing where the aggressive way is now lauded as the real talent, while fine precision work is overlooked. What can I say? It's the way the world is going. So actually this movie furthers this negative ideal with which I vehemently disagree, and clearly the PV girls should have won, even with Winnie at the helm, Rihanna was just biased... Get real people! I'm not kidding! The PV girls looked the best and were the best. Those street hoodlums look like militant communists, yet you Americans fail to notice that. Wake up America! Before the politically-correct lot criticize me, just imagine two scenes: (1) black kid transfers to white school, is snubbed, picked on, this is wrong to viewers, ooh we have to fuss over him like Brandon Walsh in BEVERLY HILLS 90210 (2) role reversal, white kid transfers to black school, it is totally acceptable to viewers that the other kids would be hostile. THIS, DEAR America, IS A DOUBLE STANDARD which the viewing public is 1000% guilty of. Ain't nobody in the world that can refute this. Before I become all political, let me rather just stand back and say I loved the movie. Great story, highly watchable characters, pretty girls, awesome cheerleading moves. Sexy and fun. A total crowd-pleaser. And scores very high in the glam stakes. Fine flesh. I know Winnie's the bad girl we're supposed to hate, but a big wow! go to Marcy/Emme Rylan. Hayden should just have been taller, but I realize there is no constructive criticism in this remark, and really, she plays the part damn well. Damn well indeed.Come on people, Krumping gets you to win the cheerleading competition????? Wake up America!
I knew Hayden who played Brittany when she was on Guiding Light where she played Lizzie Spaulding. She's grown up and moved on but she'll always be Lizzie to me. In this performance, she takes a rich girl who is moved to the wrong side of the tracks known as Crenshaw Heights from Pacific Vista. She was head cheerleader and popular at her old school. In her new school, she's alone and ostracized for being the white girl. Anyway, she gets on the cheer-leading squad of her new school but tries to hide that information from her old friends. I have to say that Hayden and Marcy Rylan who played Winnie Harper in the film were worth watching. You see Marcy Rylan recently played Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light until it ended. Kind of ironic, anyway I felt the film was okay and had a story in it. My only problem is that there were no adults like parents or much about teachers in the film or a coach. Where is the adult supervision during activities?
Britney (Hayden Penettierre) was on cloud nine - wealthy, pretty, popular and the newly crowned captain of her cheering squad. Then her world comes crashing down around her when her parents announce that they will be moving and she will be attending an inner city school. She is devastated and vows she will never cheer again until she joins the squad at her new school. Now she's forced to decide who she can trust, who her real friends are, and what guys deserve to be in her life.In some ways this film is a reiteration of the first film, except that the wealthy white girl is thrown into the inner city school instead of competing against them. However the acting is well-done, especially from Hayden and Solange Knowles - Smith. There is a good amount of foreshadowing so the ending doesn't feel thrown together. The drama feels real on screen (even though it is actually unrealistic)and the characters are likable. The best thing about this film has to be the end routine - it brings everything together. The things that annoyed me about this film: *the IM speak - it wasn't funny, it was annoying, and anyone who talked like that would be beaten up.*how dumb Britney acted in the beginning - considering a C-average good, and telling her friends they're too fat.*how Britney lets everyone walk all over her when she has so much attitude. How does that work? Overall: This is a worthy direct-to-video sequel to the original. It's a fun film to watch with good performances and awesome dance moves. Do yourself a favor, skip the first sequel and give this one a watch if you liked the original, or just want an entertaining cheer leading movie.
I have to say this movie was better then the second one, the second one was terrible, and it was just awful. This movie is entertaining and fun to watch, but there are some scenes and actors that are not that good. Some of the actors, well i don't even know how they even got the job, they were just bad, and not convincing. But I did like some of the scenes, like when they were cheering at the end, and I loved the beginning, and the plot was very good too. This movie was pretty entertaining, and if you buy it on DVD, you will a bit sorry, but only a little, but rent it, it's worth a watch or two. Overall this is an OK movie.
