The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

Humans are unaware of the beauty that lies in their own souls. Sometimes, here comes a song, a poem, or a child,... or a movie, that reveals the inner beauty we once had it. So, that is the moment when we humans, suddenly cherries the life: ours and others. There aren't enough songs, or poems, or children, or movies, so, each new one should be saluted. Impressive beauty in images, in music and words. The beauty of a world we are not aware of, the beauty of our souls we are not aware of. The message of this masterpiece is an optimistic one, JJ, the baby whale should be an emblematic symbol of our return, from former hunters to actual friends. JJ is the character that stand for each species, each individual of the multitude that live on this planet. We too are JJ-s for a bear, a butterfly or a crab. A movie like this save us from ignorance. Enjoy the beauty in your souls, and see the movie. The African migratory story is just one of the many.

It is quite unfortunate for Epic Journeys: The Great Migrations to have come out in 1999. In the early 90's almost the same production crew filmed the amazing film, Africa The Serengeti. Even though Epic Journey's tries to recapture the same magic of Africa The Serengeti, it misses the mark. A few segments are captivating, but others are festering with boredom. See this film if you are an animal lover of any type, and you will enjoy it, but for a real treat rent a copy of Africa The Serengeti, and wish you had seen it in all it's glory on the giant IMAX Screen.
