Fresh and Exciting
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Amazing movie.. surya rocked in the movie.. the athreya character was good. surya in athreya character was amazing. the songs and bgm was extraordinary. the vfx was mind blowing.
It is very often we see a brilliantly written and executed Science-fiction thriller in Indian Cinema and 24 is one among them for sure. Director Vikram K Kumar, who also wrote the screenplay is rthe star. The complex screenplay works so well and misses nothing that is needed for a Tamil movie.Movies like Kabali,Theri came with stories that are told many times, 24 is fresh.Suriya needs to appreciated for the portrayal of the three roles, especially Athreya. The movies is all about a cat and mouse between Mani and Athreya for the time machine. It also contains a love track between Suriya and Samantha, which lags and is not up to the mark. A.R Rahman's music could be credited as one of the pluses for the song Naan Un .S. Thiru is another highlight of the flick. He has done a marvellous job in almost all the scenes. The VFX in the film is one of India's best works. The BGM gives the mood. The narrative is kept simple throughout and is entertaining.24 is a cleverly crafted science fiction thriller which has it's strengths like the energetic performance from Suriya, a brilliant screenplay, excellent VFX etc.The love track is the only thing which makes us bored.Overall it could be credited as one of the best Indian movies of 2016.If you are looking for something different, this is for you.It will never disappoint you😃
Massive performance from Suriya sir especially Athreya character was unforgettable which will carry the Charisma of Suriya Anna for A Decade. Quite good acting from Samantha and Nithya Menon and rest of crew. Fantastic CG work and the Pausing the Rain was a superb Scene. A Great applause to director Vikram Sir who came with a fantastic Script and clean direction and at End a clean Entertainment from Suriya sir which is a confirm BlockBuster at the box office. But around 5 songs and 2 hours and 44 minutes of running time was a minus if it was below 2 and half hours it would have been still better. A path breaking Interval block and A hint for sequel at End with eagle's body enlargement near watch were quite good. And thus for me 24 is an unseen cinema of Science Fiction in Indian Cinema with Time travel concept is really fantastic.
Brilliant from start to end.The visuals and the sleep town are amazingly shot. What a locale and such scenery. Throughout the movie every scene is like a painting. Hats off Tirru - the cinematographer.Vikram Kumar - Time travel is such a difficult theme with so many overlaps, object positioning and logic hurdles. Also Indian audience has different type of viewership. So there is the extra hurdle of explaining sequences and hints for time travel. This is so hard for screenplay. But Vikram has handled this very well and the story is tight.AAATHREEYAAA - Surya is just brilliant as the antagonist. After Siddarth Abhimanyu, I thought its hard to match up another villain character. But Surya nailed it as the cut throat villain. The other 2 characters are also played adeptly by Surya.Unwanted love scenes - Added to sell out to many lady viewers who want love songs and mushy scenes. Thani Oruvan, Kaththi and Thupakki also had to carry this unwanted burden.Inspite of this, hats off to Surya for having conviction to take this movie and execute it with a high budget. I heard that initially no one was ready to make this, but Surya stepped up.Minor flaws here and there exist, but the direction, tight screenplay and brilliant performances have made this movie of international standard. If Indians don't celebrate such movies then they have no right to say Indian movies don't match to Hollywood.
