This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

It is a movie that you can watch with your family. characters are well thought out. and you enjoy watching it. Kevin Spacey is as usual great and can make you smile several times. Main zest of the story is more than focused on invention. But is a love affair. it was a good time spent. Hollywood should come out with more movies with some character in it . Also i think these movies deserve more popularity then less material movies get now a days. For those who are criticizing this movie they must understand that the story has to fit in 2 hours so you cannot be entirely practical. it is a must watch for all. more of these kind of movies will make viewers more caring about their family .

This is for Tiki Man you sad, sad man...I enjoyed this film, but at the same time I'm not saying this is an earth shattering film, but my God man you either need to get laid or realize and come to grips with the fact that your bitterness, stemmed most likely from your failure at breaking into the industry, (which most likely is do to the fact that your're still working on your Citizen Cane but realized mid stream that your just an angry, frustrated, pretentious, talentless douche bag), is completely pathetic and ponderous . In order to redeem yourself, you need to post rancorous, ill tempered rants on IMDb to deal with the fact that your penis is really that small. This is the first time I've ever posted on IMDb and most likely the last, but dude you are seriously a total loser. Get out of your parents basement, rid yourself of all the anger and resentments and do something with your life. The camera is too close WAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't listen to the critics who pan this movie. Yes, it is predictable, and obvious. But the movie doesn't preach, condescend, take itself (too) seriously, or take its precious time going somewhere. This is actually better than I expected. No question about it, "Father of Invention" is great entertainment, and very effective. You don't have to be a "genius" to enjoy this movie. I could have done without the subplot regarding Heather Graham's lesbian character. I didn't feel it was necessary. It's just a plot device. And I would have loved to see John Stamos a lot more. With an interesting character as his, that one scene wasn't enough. Although he is mentioned near the end of the film. If you're looking for a quality movie to watch (and enjoy Kevin Spacey), this is that movie.***1/2

"Haven't you ruined enough peoples lives?" Robert Axel (Spacey) is the world's greatest "fabricator". Combining two ideas into one new one makes him millions. When one idea, the "ab-clicker" (an ab machine/TV remote) breaks peoples fingers he is found liable and is sent to prison. After serving 8 years he is released and moves in with his daughter and two roommates. Kevin Spacey has started to make a living playing offbeat, somewhat eccentric characters that have to build themselves back up. While this performance is not quite as good as "Casino Jack" it is still very good, and the movie is too. A very funny and enjoyable movie to watch. While not very original it is still very entertaining and Spacey's interaction with the other characters is what makes the movie. The supporting cast which includes Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville and Craig Robinson are great and while the movie is a rehash of many other movies the acting and dialog make this well worth watching. Overall, a very entertaining movie that is only that way because of the cast. I give it a B.Would I watch again? - I don't know if I would.*Also try - Casino Jack & Extract
