This movie is truly one of the modern day classics. The quick wit, the tension and the most important part of any movie, the scripting of the movie are really good.Based on the Opera House heist in 1987, the movie starts off with a CBI team raiding a minister's house with the help of two police officers, and when the cops realize that the minister has been conned and his black money hoarded away, the hunt to trace the fake team begins. This movie has many good things going for it. Firstly, the script. There is never a dull moment in the movie. Secondly, the dialogues. A Neeraj Pandey hallmark. It is quick witted and it is great. Thirdly, the performances. Akshay Kumar gives a brilliant performance as the leader of the pack, Anupam Kher is sublime as the nervous wreck, Manoj Bajpayee uses the deadpan to great effect, Jimmy Shergill is amazing as the cop trying to correct the wrongs. Kajal Agarwal gives a sweet performance and so does Divya Dutta. If I were to nitpick, the love track between Akshay Kumar and Kajal Agarwal, albeit nice and sweet, felt slightly unnecessary. And the songs too felt out of place. The editing is slick, and the setting is brilliant, giving you the feel of the 80's. The cinematography is great as well. And the background score is very good too. This shows that adaptations of real life incidents, in the right hands, can make for an intelligent and thrilling movie watching experience. You would not want to miss this movie.
Neeraj Pandey comes in the category of most trust-able and creative directors of Bollywood. After " A Wednesday", he successfully manages to involve viewers in a taut heist thriller.Set in 1987 this film is based on the robbery performed by a group of intelligent con artists, based on true events the movie's art direction is very good it gives you the feel of old Delhi. Akshay Kumar portrays his character brilliantly. His looks his style ,there is not a single shot where you feel that he is overacting.Anupam Khmer is good enough to support, Manoj Bajpai's acting is also very good ,the tension on his face looks very real.Jimmy Shergil is a surprise package,he is fabulous. But there is a minor mistake in its climax, which could've been better.Overall, it's a must watch heist film since Aankhen(2002) and Kaante(2002).
Like all others I watched this cos of the director neeraj pandey's previous hit " a Wednesday" . and boy I was surprised ...not at neeraj's work which I feel is always good but akshay kumar after all his usual masala stuff has ultimately managed to pull out something serious .. really serious .In the two and half hour ride there are some high points and there are some not so high points , but the best thing about the movie is that it hits you right on back of your head when you are not ready for it .So , I recommend it as a very good one time watch.note:you may not like this movie if you are a fight loving or logic-ridden cinema goer.
