Paranormal Entity
December. 22,2009 PGThomas Finley has been arrested for the murder of his nineteen-year old sister, Samantha and fifty-two year old, Edgar Lauren, a Professor and paranormal investigator. Police were called to the scene by Thomas himself in the early hours of the morning, finding him inside with his sister's body cradled in his arms. In his statement given in police custody, Thomas claimed that the victims were attacked by a demonic entity of unknown origin. Days later, he committed suicide. It is the opinion of those closely related to the family that a video found at the scene be shown to the public as a final testament to what actually happened inside the Finley home in those final days.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
This movie is not nearly as bad as other's say it is. You can't compare this movie to big-budget blockbuster movies. It's simply just not on that scale or level. In saying that, and what they had to work with in creating this movie, it was actually fairly good. The acting was decent. Yes, it did come off as a little dry and boring but considering the psychology of the individuals that are experiencing something they were, it was probably fairly on point. My issue was perhaps with the casting. And you see this over and over in cheaper movies. The actress playing the daughter was I'm sure much older than the character was intended to be. She had a couple nude scenes, so this is probably the reason for this. Speaking of the nude scenes, I thought this was very powerful. It made the scenes very real and intimate, especially with her brother finding her in this state.I'm fairly sure that this movie came out after, "Paranormal Activity", a film that is very similar in context and narrative. Paranormal Activity was obviously substantially more widespread and successful. However, this movie, Paranormal Entity addressed one key issue that people were confused with after viewing Paranormal Activity. The main issue with P. Activity was why the couple living in the home simply would not just leave the home after all the crazy activity going on. In "P. Entity" it was made known that leaving the house would not necessarily resolve the issue and perhaps would only make things worse. The Entity followed the daughter and mother to the Motel which in-turn quickly forced them to return to their home in terror.I also thought there was a lot of creativity in the way the writers presented the demon entity without ever actually showing the demon. The footprints on the ceiling from the ash of the deceased father and the use of the simple bells on a string to signal the demon passing by them were quite effective and scary. In no way am I saying this movie is incredible or worthy of numerous awards and honors, I am simply saying that this movie is nowhere near as bad as people say it is. It's actually quite entertaining and fairly good for what the production team was working with. I recommend seeing this movie. And if you do, don't spend the entire movie analyzing everything that is wrong with it. You obviously won't like it if you do that. I recommend watching this movie at night in the dark, by yourself or a friend, and allow yourself to get immersed in the narrative and idea of having a demon entity tormenting your family and household.
Family grieving the loss of their father is hunted by a malevolent spirit in their home.I do enjoy found footage, and a mix of subjective and objective POV can be effective. So I'm a fan of Paranormal Activity, but this is an inferior attempt.First up, far too much information given away at the start. Then the camera man is boorish and irritating, although he does become sympathetic, and the family is so stressed out to begin with that the tension can't really mount. The editing is irritating, with too many cuts/fades to black screen. And the background radiation music is overdone up to the halfway point. The story is a tease on the erotic side, but either you do or you don't - and this one didn't. Especially with the confused and rushed final sequence.
I saw Paranormal Activity some time ago and it seemed very long (and when I saw it, I must say kind of boring)very little was happening. In this movie, it doesn't take long to get moving and for strange things to start to happen. It's quite a tragic story as it explains in the opening statements. I don't see how Samantha's brother could have been charged with her rape and murder considering there were cameras in three different rooms showing bizarre things happening like her blanket being pulled down when no one was in the room. The same with things moving.I guess it's hard to blame a crime on a ghost. Who knows if the footage he took would have even helped him. All in all I really liked this movie.Maybe I need to give paranormal Activity another try to see if it as boring as I remember.
Good acting with an imaginative twist on the original "Paranormal Activity" make this movie worth watching for anyone who enjoys the Shock- u-mentary genre ala Blair Witch. The story centers around the "found footage" of paranormal activity experienced by a small family.I watched this movie before Paranormal Activity. I ended up watching the P.A. after getting the DVD's 1&2 with advertised free tickets for the third installment. Paranormal Entity is actually a lot scarier; with a lot more imaginative "phenomena" going on. Finally, a 5$ DVD from Walmart that is actually worth every penny!
