To me, this movie is perfection.
Admirable film.
Absolutely Fantastic
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
I was surprised to hear Filipino language in a movie being shown on star movies and that is why I watched this film. Sad that it is about the fight against the rebels though and not about the good culture or nature that Philippines has. It is a pity that not all lines spoken in Filipino were subtitled so it will not be surprising if people who don't understand the language react badly -- it is hard not to on something you can't understand well. Also, if you are used to watching really good war effects, this movie will really disappoint you cos it won't give you that -- instead, this movie will make you see something more realistic, something that you may really see in a real combat with the rebels. It is also a pity that I didn't see much acting to think that the movie actually got Ricardo Cepeda who is a really good Filipino actor. But as a whole, this film is not all that bad. This film actually made me respect soldiers better.
I saw this movie at Blockbuster and I was like "why have i never heard of this movie?" i watched it and i loved it. good action scenes and good plot to say the least.i'm not going to lie but it fell short on acting, especially on the female pilots role(not because she's a woman just bad acting on her part) and a few other characters also realism fell short. being a military buff and all i can safely say helicopters do not get blown out of the sky from RPGs. the movie said stinger missiles but they showed RPGs. also if any marine saw this movie and saw a Lt. salute a 1 star general with no cover on would be disgusted oh and by the way, the rank Spc(Specialist) is not in the Marine Corps, they are definitely in the Army but good movie all in all. i am definitely watching the second
First off, the acting is just terrible, I could go on, but just trust me! Second, the special Fx is really bad, anyone could tell that they are fake. (Spoiler Below)I remember one scene where the bad guys are going to shoot down the helicopter and instead of having of a shot of the actual bad guys manning a gun, about to fire it; they had a CG helicopter flying in the sky with bright red cross-hairs locking on the helicopter. It was bad. The helicopter crashing was terrible too, they just shook the camera for a shot of the helicopter and cut to a shot of the camera zooming in on the tries below. Most People would rather watch a movie with the same synopsis, shot with a 8MM camcorder, THAT HAD AN ACTUAL PLOT; than watch "Hunt For Eagle One" with fancy effects and shot by fancy camcorders, WITH NO PLOT.
One of the few films I've rented which i haven't actually watched to the end, I couldn't. This film is one of the worst I've seen for a long time, there are no special effects, no storyline, zero acting skills. The lack of a military adviser if blindingly obvious from the very first frame of the very first scene when the platoon of marines row their boats onto the shore in open daylight. Then run across the beach in a mindless rabble. From there things go from bad to worse, poor archive helicopter footage spliced in with even worse shots from within the cockpit. As an example one shot uses one type of helicopter (westland), then the next shot we see two totally different helicopters!(Huey) What were they thinking. The whole thing is a total failure, its not even entertaining as a mindless action film. For anybody that is thinking of watching this film, don't waste your time. I feel dirty giving it even 1/10.
