Powerful
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
I liked this movie for what it was, No it's not perfect or pure gold... But it's still clean and enjoyable fun for 102 minutes. I liked Christian Slater since Heathers, so this one was okay. 8/10
This is a pretty average action type of movie. It came and went with a whimper and nobody really seemed to notice it. I remember seeing this movie before, and even though I did not get put off by it, it didn't stand out. Now it seems to appear on TV every so often late at night. The creators have used a bit of creative license by creating an enterprise where there is a private police force, Special Patrol, in San-Fransisco helping out the real police force. They are really little more than security guards with a few extra powers. The movie is about a kid named George Kuffs (Christian Slater) who leaves his girlfriend when he learns that she is pregnant. He goes to his brother, who runs one of the Special Patrol districts, for some money, but he is killed by a gangster. In his will George receives the district and goes gunning for the gangster, while being hindered by the police force who really don't want him there. There is also poor old Ted who just seems to always on the wrong side of bad luck.Anyway, this movie is really about how George Kuffs goes from being a free and easy drifter to an adult with responsibilities. The change happens when his brother is killed, because he suddenly finds himself without somebody to lean on. His brother had been trying to give him direction, but it wasn't until he died that his efforts began to come to fruition. Also, even though Kuffs left is girlfriend, he still had his brother. Life was easy because he could have what he wanted and the one stable thing in his life was his brother. Then when he died, Kuffs discovered that the one stable thing in his life was no longer stable, so he attempted to reach out for his girlfriend. Of course she wasn't there for him, and even then he didn't really want to face her after dumping her the way he did.The interesting thing about this movie is that Kuffs is our narrator, but unfortunately it isn't well crafted enough to allow us to look deeply into Kuff's psyche. I guess it is not meant to be as such, because when it comes down to it, George Kuffs is a shallow character in a shallow movie.
I just saw Kuffs and can't believe I have never ever heard of it before. It stars Christian Slater as George Kuffs, a slacker/loser who leaves his pregnant girl friend. His brother runs a privately owned police agency (they are not the official police of San Francisco but a title at the beginning of the movie explains that since sometime in the 1800s they have set up privately owned police agencies in different districts around the city) and after some strange circumstances Kuffs ends up being one of these "sheriffs for hire" tracking down the vicious gang that was going after his brother. There are some good jokes and the action is okay it also doesn't have too much swearing or nudity or blood/guts so it is okay for most people, PG-13 and safe at that rating even.
First, to get something out of the way; nhendley-1, did you even watch the movie? Or were you sleeping and just caught bits and pieces? It would be understandable that you could have been sleeping 15 minutes into the movie because it is awful, but doesn't help your argument. The police even stated that there were no fingerprints on the gun and if you would have watched the scene in the church you would have seen why. Second priority is to outline what I thought about the movie oh, it was awful. It was an obvious attempt to just be a fun movie but it was far too frustrating with horrible dialog and acting to be tolerable, let alone fun.
