The Double Deuce is the meanest, loudest and rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and Dalton has been hired to clean it up. He might not look like much, but the Ph.D.-educated bouncer proves he's more than capable – busting the heads of troublemakers and turning the roadhouse into a jumping hot spot. But Dalton's romance with the gorgeous Dr. Clay puts him on the bad side of cutthroat local big shot Brad Wesley.

The first must-see film of the year.
The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
This really is one of those guilty pleasures - a inane movie, but possessed of so many elements for guys to enjoy, mainly regular bouts of ass-kicking, that a guy has to watch it about once a year to get his fix of adrenaline and a picture of how the world should work. The movie has its own rules and an internal structure mostly explained by the character of Dalton (Swayze), a supervisor of bouncers termed a Cooler. When certain entertainment establishments become too lowbrow and rowdy on a nightly basis, someone like Dalton is hired on to show all the patrons how to behave in a civilized manner. He has a degree in philosophy to help facilitate his instruction, plus some martial arts disciplines. In this world of bouncers, club owners, and alcohol dispensers, Dalton has a mighty rep - they've all heard of him,
Delivered by the utterly coolest dude that ever lived on this planet.. Mr Sam Elliot: "That girl has entirely too many brains to have an ass like that." Apart from that, this is such an easy watch, and such fun! If you haven't, do. Alone or with the g/f b/f. It doesn't matter. You'll love it!
Obscenely enjoyable. "Road House" is one of the campest and certainly one of the most homoerotic of all American movies. It was nominated for 5 Razzies but in the intervening years it's become something of a cult classic. It's certainly a great action movie with some of the best fight scenes in all of cinema and it's built around the cult of body worship and mostly male body worship which isn't to say that the broads aren't broad where broads should be broad but fundamentally this is all about the guys, who have been mostly picked for their looks and their physiques. The hunkiest guy of all is, of course, Patrick Swayze as Dalton, the hottest 'cooler' in the county. His job is to clean up the Double Deuce, the road house of the title and the roughest joint around. Then, of course, he's got Mr Big to contend with as well, (Ben Gazzara, having a whale of a time). The director was the aptly named Rowdy Herrington who took to the material like a duck to water and the terrific, rowdy score is courtesy of the Jeff Healey Band.
Road House, like Schwarzenegger's Commando has gained cult status among action fans, and for good reason. It is an over the top often hilarious film about a male cooler and his team of bouncers trying to turn a rowdy bar into a respectable place in a town owned by a local dictator. Patrick Swayze is great in this film, along with Point Break another action classic he seemed to be making great project choices after his success with Dirty Dancing. I recommend this film to anyone looking for an easy going often extremely violent action film with fabulous one liners to boot, a late 80's classic.
