Awesome Movie
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I watched this movie thinking "typical Disney" but was very pleasantly surprised. Not only did it feature future star Katherine Heigl, incredible acting, a great storyline, and several important moral lessons for kids, but I was amazed at how much the plot matched my own two daughters, one of whom is the super popular Alexia (Heigl) and the other who mirrors the brainy yet nerdy Haley (Katherine Harris). I had them and my two boys watch it with me, and it really kept their interest and gave them a lot to think about after wards. This is a story of wanting to be like somebody else, envying them, and then learning what it would really be like in someone else's shoes. The popular and pretty Alexia and the nerdy yet brainy Haley must trade places (aka Vice-Versa, Freaky Friday) and in the end shows how their relationship is strengthened by really understanding each other. The acting of Heigl and Harris is superb, as their rivalry and reconciliation require a real chemistry to exist between them which you can see clearly underlying the acting. Overall a superb family film, my favorite Disney movie of its type, and it's cult classic status is well deserved. I gave it 10 stars. There were only two minor defects I found in the movie, which almost degraded my rating to a 7 or 8, but in the end I dismissed them as too unimportant to spoil a perfect rating for such a superb family movie. The first was the casting. Harris, the younger sister, was actually 1.5 years older than Heigl, and it did show. But this can be forgiven because it must have been hard to cast a younger sister for a 14 yo Heigl, who was bound to be Alexia in spite of her age simply because she was so pretty and had the right look. The other defect, which somewhat shocked me because it was Disney, was how revealing the outfits worn by Alexia were, and how sexually suggestive some of the scenes were. One actually shows her getting dressed, and all of her skirts are so short they are like belts. I actually got embarrassed, especially when I look over and see my two boys (12yo and 11yo) with their mouths hanging open practically drooling! I have never seen anything like this in any Disney movie, but in the end I did not lower my rating because Heigl literally had a body to die for then, so how could I blame them? lol
This is one of the better movies that aired in one of Disney Channel's better days. Basically, it's about two teenage sisters switching places, one of which is a popular and gorgeous yet airheaded senior that works hard to become the high school's Winter Fest queen, while the other is a socially inept yet bright and undeniably cute sophomore whose major goal this school year is to succeed in the school's science fair. The contrast between each of the girls makes for a very interesting and fun movie to watch. It's very much aimed towards younger audiences, although Disney obviously disagrees with quite a few of its themes and somewhat suggestive scenes. It still retains its status as a PG-rated movie. The plot is easy to follow, and the characters are even easier to fall in love with.If you liked watching this movie all the time on television, I suggest you grab the DVD. The commentary alone is worth the investment.
I really liked this movie after watching it a few times. It shows exactly how a high school really works. This is pretty good "switcheroo" movie because you could very well tell who was who because of their personalities when they switch. I don't think I'm giving away any spoilers by saying that they switch, because the trailers already say that. Let's see, I liked this movie because it shows the evolution, mood swings, and heart of how these two teenage girls live their lives in high school. They both are very dramatic actresses. The movie has some good music in it, and it has some comedy as well. I also like the plot of the story too. I think is is just one of those movies that you could watch if you have nothing else to do. Not one that you just would watch if you have to. The mistress of the high school, Hunter High, is a very stern woman that plays her roles very well. The two girls get into lots of trouble that result in a lot of mishappens that were uncalled-for. And overall I know that most people who have a good understanding of what a high school movie is will know that this is a good example of one. I do recommend it, you can see it with your family, they would get a kick out of it, or if you are just a high schooler, you would probably enjoy it.
My friends call me Crazy. Im starting to think Im crazy. But...I actually like this movie.About 90% of my movie collection is horror movies, yet somehow this movie made it into my collection ( on a blank tape...but its still there) But enough rambling.Sure, this may be on Disney, but that doesnt mean its not good. People should just give it a chance. I in fact only watched it because Ive got some silly crush on Danielle Harris. But thats not the point! The movie has great acting, its funny and it has a moral to the story. But im no good at writing reviews. My point is: If a hardcore horror fan like me can like this movie, just about anybody can. Just give it a chance.
