Yet another pointless hack job of a "remake". What they did to the "plot" is simple inexcusable. The original is a classic that successfully incorporates adrenaline pumping violence and competition, social and political commentary, and ultimately the indomitable will of one man (and by proxy, mankind). The remake is "Oh, look! LL Cool J on a bike! WHEEEEEEE! VROOM VROOM!".

"...?!"This is the remake of the 1975 classic. And just like everybody else is saying, this is a movie that should have never been made.John McTiernan is one of the great directors of modern times. He was behind iconic and groundbreaking movies like "Die Hard", "Predator" or "The Hunt for Red October". A very impressive lineup that showed skill, passion and style. Sure, there were some misses too, like "Last Action Hero" and "The 13th Warrior", for example, but they were not that bad. Rollerball is without a doubt the worst movie he ever made and I can think of no reason why he would do such a thing.Making this movie should have been easy: all he had to do was take the original, remove the boring parts and improve the spectacular game of Rollerball. Just bring it up to date, so to speak. Unlock the game's full potential with the help of modern technology. Instead, he added a moronic back story, lame characters and almost no game at all. At least the original was half and half: half on the track and half off. This one barely showed any of the game and when it did it was just a bunch of clowns skating around in drag. It wasn't a game. It was a Gay Pride Parade (no offense). The script is horrible, the story is abysmal, the location is stupid, the set and the characters are just wrong and the camera work is crap. The editing is horrendous, the music is bad and the actors are worse. I've seen the movie in Italian, and that was fortunate. At least the Italian voice actors made it bearable.Rollerball. The movie that should have never been made. 1/10.

I haven't seen the original rollerball, so maybe that helps. This movie definitely isn't great, but after reading these reviews I was expecting something really really terrible. What I ended up getting was almost no story but an overall entertaining spectacle of expensive special effects. The script avoids trying to give the movie any kind of deep plot, so I didn't bother looking for one. I just sat back, watched people get beat up and cars explode and by the end of the movie I don't feel like I wasted my hour.If you have nothing better to watch, really there are worse choices out there.

Oh dear where can you start? This was a real mess,a plaster board' makeover of the original. An awful attempt to cash in on one of the greatest movies of the 70s. With LL Cool J, Rebecca Romjin, Jean Reno..and the guiding hand of John McTiernan, this should have been fairly good. However it fails miserably on all counts. The Rollerball course was more like a cheap Go Kart/Scateboard Park, for under 5s at a funfair...A far cry from the former Olympic basketball stadium converted in the original movie...The acting, well I've seen better in a cheap bin, in a £1 shop in the UK...Obviously, there was no attempt at method here! I am glad those involved must have been quick to bank their cheques...We will see them on "Cribs" next, showing off their new homes and paraphernalia, probably sporting a Rollerball 2002 poster in a glass frame on some staircase landing...I nearly bought the DVD video, after all the advertising hype...Im glad I did not, I would rather buy £10 of white stewed cabbage and make myself more sick, than I currently am feeling after watching this again...Worst film and my worst IMDb mark Sorry!
