Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
The acting in this movie is really good.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
What is this, what has this to do with Hellraiser, nothing at all, sure the lament configuration is there and there's an online game but let that be all. And pinhead do appears but he isn't what he is used to be. No punishment at all, okay, here we do have back some cenobites but that's it.Pinhead is really forced into the story to make a Hellraiser flick but it didn't work at all. He do uses his one-liners but it's so forced and I really got pity with Bradley that he was involved in this little stinker. Also, it's the first Hellraiser with that amount of nudity. Sadly, it doesn't add a thing to Hell. It's also the franchise that we see Bradley performing for the last time as pinhead, Revealtions (2011) was the follow-up and we all knew what that was, a flop.Gore 0,5/5 Nudity 1,5/5 Effects 2/5 Story 2/5 Comedy 0/5
The Hellraiser franchise has undergone a series of misfires from poor scripts, plots and characterization as it goes toe to toe with Friday the 13th for bad sequels. In surprised at this point Doug Bradly wants his name associated with This unless he really needed work. The movie plays on the current trend of video games based on the movie Hellraiser. You have the breakfast club of a jock, out caste, criminal and pretty girl all mourning the lost of their friend who was addicted to the game and mysteriously died a year ago. They head inside the world of the game looking for clues at a party in a mansion that looks it was taken straight out of a Scooby doo cartoon. The plot thickens as Lance Henrisken, the father, who wants the punish the kids for not saving his son and places them in coffins underneath the ground. It had more jokes then swish cheese from the villains motives, his plans, who are the other party goers and leaves it open on if pinhead is real or not?The characters were one dimensional stereotypes who you never feel sympathy for or care what happens to them. Its confused on What it wants to be a horror thriller, comedy from the absurdity on the while project or a porno from the graphic nudity they through in for the heck of It.Hellraiser has fallen away into direct to video category for good reason.
How the hell did Lance manage to dig out five graves in such a short amount of time? Why didn't he do it earlier, BEFORE the whole show started? How is it that among a hundred people at the party NOBODY saw him dig graves? WHY would he go out of his way to stage such an elaborate revenge when he clearly didn't have a good relationship with his dead son? How could he know that all five of his intended victims would show up? Couldn't he think of a simpler and less expensive way of rounding up the five of them in order to torture them? What was the point/logic of that last scene when Lance suddenly appears behind the love-birds: didn't he just get split into bits by the cenobites? Just a few questions that expose the numerous plot-holes in this badly constructed script.Still, at least there was a plot-twist – as absurd as it was from a logical standpoint. Although, given what "Hellraiser" movies 5-7 were like, any fan of the franchise must have known in advance that the five teens weren't experiencing reality. The franchise had started repeating itself, instead of simply going back to the simpler formula of the first 2-3 movies. The metal/rock soundtrack ruins the mood on numerous occasions. I have to say this for the billionth time: just because a lot of metal and some rock deal with demons, murder and destruction does NOT mean that kind of music suits horror films. It bloody doesn't. Compare this pathetic soundtrack to that of the first few movies.
A group of attractive young adults like to play "Hellworld". But, first, we see them attending the funeral of player Stelian Urian (as Adam). He apparently suffered a game-related suicide. This is later cleared up - okay, that's debatable - in a flashback. Leading woman of the group is Katheryn Winnick (as Chelsea). Even without drugs, she has a vivid, nightmarish imagination. Although Ms. Winnick doesn't undress like others in the cast, she is still ultra-sexy. Leading man is boyish-looking Christopher Jacot (as Jake). He has been estranged from the gamers, since the death of their mutual friend...The other significant friends are stud-like Henry Cavill (as Mike), horny Khary Payton (as Derrick) and playful Anna Tolputt (as Allison). Doug Bradley (as Pinhead) is around, too, of course...Two years later, the group goes to a party hosted by Lance Henriksen; there, all hell breaks loose. This could have been a very good horror film, but there are some problems. Most obvious is the tacking on of at least two dumb "twist" endings; the one with the coffins was fine, but it is diluted with each additional turn of events. Also, there is a feeling you've missed something in the "Hellraiser" series. Don't look for the previous movie dealing with the story referenced within; it doesn't exist. Some of this is obviously rushed, but the photography, setting, and some parts of the story work well.***** Hellraiser: Hellworld (9/6/05) Rick Bota ~ Katheryn Winnick, Christopher Jacot, Lance Henriksen, Henry Cavill
