hyped garbage
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
I wasn't sure what to think up to about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the film, but once everything became clear, my mind was blown. As someone who constantly ruminates over the grand ultimate, I found this poignant tale of one interesting possibility, thoroughly grounded in humanity, gripping and profound. The leads were very nicely characterized and the musical score was seamless and always apropos. For those who have the ability to pay attention to details in films, the ride is worth it with this one. There are clues throughout that may or may not lead one to the correct determination, but in the end, all is explained.I would caution those deeply rooted in any form of mainstream organized religion or school of philosophy, you may very well come to dislike this film once the plot culminates.
I saw it yesterday and, too much different of what I've read here, I simply saw a housewife completely slaved by the crack. Her pain and dreams are so intense that she creates another world, where she is important, famous and mother at the same time. But all of this has a high cost, each price showed in each chapter. Ryan is the crack itself: he is her best friend, her lover and her husband. When he goes away her imaginary world comes to an end: she is cured. The movie just shows us what her mind creates while she tries to get rid of the power of the drug, the crack. What does Ryan think of all this? He is God, such is the power of the drug. He created Melissa's world and He has the power to destroy it when she is cured.
This film is all about the possibilities of the beyond. How far can you stretch your imagination? I honestly have no idea how this movie has been rated so low, it really is beyond me. It's hard to say what this film's about without spoiling it, so I'll just say watch it and open your mind to the very edges of your mind's horizon. The movie is cut into 3 parts all containing the same actors, who play different roles in each part. It ties together in the end very nicely. The concept is pretty magical.Advice: If you read gossip mags, idolise the Kardashians, watch programs like Big Brother or anything on ITV you'll hate this movie as there's not enough glitter. Not that it's for the humble intellectual, but it's suited to people with imagination and a questioning nature.
This is one of those movies which scatter all the pieces and in the end all of them start fitting together into something beautiful. So as expected the best parts of the movie are towards the end but what 'The Nines' lacks is that these pieces get pretty dull and boring at times. One cannot watch an entire 90+ minutes movie just for a pleasing end and exploration of concept. When done with the movie i got that 'not worth it' feeling with a mixture of dissatisfaction for a good concept been wasted.Should you watch it? Yes, it is watchable. If the story ended in a way where it left the movie open to various interpretations (a presentation very much possible with this one) and left the audience in surprise and with questions, would have been more appropriate than the usual happy family ending. A Donnie Darko end with a sad mysterious feeling could have added great quality to the movie.I had a feeling that i was watching a sitcom the entire time with Ryan Reynolds in it. Give me that movie feel and add one more star but for this its 6/10.
