Redundant and unnecessary.
Better Late Then Never
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
I'm a fan of various Hanna Barbera cartoons as well as certain live action adaptations of cartoon shows. However, I can easily say that this is awful beyond recognition for many reasons: the story is extremely weak, the characters are utterly nothing, the humor is weak and nothing to run home about, the dialogue is horrendous, there's nothing really that special about this film, a lot of the dialogue is laughable, there are way too many characters that aren't that memorable (except Yogi, Boo-Boo and Ranger Smith) and worst of all, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera died before this film was even thought of. I sat in the theater in total disbelief and I couldn't believe that this even greenlit. I know that there are fans of this film, but I totally disagree. The only thing that I'll give credit to is that Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are fine as our main characters. That's the only positive thing I can say about it.
Upon first glance, this movie is what it say's on the tin; a witty and nostalgia filled family adventure. But by watching the movie one starts to scratch, tear and then destroy the thin surface in which this movie stuck it's success so profusely upon. The film itself starts off as the Hanna Barbera cartoon we all hate to admit we love, but that charm wears off as the onslaught of pop- culture references and corny dialogue begin to rear their ugly heads. And we all know from the first Scooby-Doo movie how that turned out.Although, if one positive thing is to be said about this near clichéd family adventure, is that at least it wasn't based as far away from the source material unlike a certain other movie which was mentioned above.Don't waste your time checking this out, there are better things to see.
Do not agree with some of the reviews written below, I loved this film. So it may not have a completely original plot but I've got to say that I enjoyed every minute. I thought the cast all played a brilliant part and made the movie a real enjoyable watch. It had moments of great excitement and lots of laughs.Having watched the Yogi Bear cartoon in the past, this made a welcome revisit to Jellystone and the lovable Yogi and Boo Boo.Whether you're a child now, or at heart you're bound to love this film.Recommended for allBuy now!
This is my first review so don't be to hard if its not up to par like the rest of them. I recently rented Yogi Bear 3d and was pleasantly surprised by the content.Plot: Jellystone Park is going broke. The mayor comes to tell Ranger Smith that he has a week to raise $20,000 or Jellystone will be shut down. Yogi Bear is a local followed by Boo-Boo. Can they save Jellystone Park in time.Characters/Acting: The highlight of this movie is of course the one and only Yogi Bear. He makes us laugh and also sympathise with him at the same time which is great in a movie. Boo-Boo is also good and some other actors who I won't mention but did an alright job. They weren't bad but they weren't the best they could be The 3D: The 3d is surprisingly good for a kids movie. Well, get yourself a 3d TV and Yogi Bear on 3d bluray. You won't regret it.Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Yogi Bear and will probably watch it again seeing I've rented it for a week
