To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
This is a terrible movie. It's supposed to be funny, but it really isn't. Full of stereotypes (both racial and sexual) and right from the beginning you know how it's going to end. The acting is very bad, with Wendy Williams as Gail as an absolute low point. The only one doing kind of OK is Steve Harvey, but he pretty much plays himself. At one point two characters realize they think alike when they correct the waiter on the pronunciation of French culinary term (en crôute) simultaneously. Only, the correction is all wrong! Not relevant to the story, but things like that just make the movie so amateurish. It's also quite a long movie and scenes on nthe basketball court where the short guys have to play the tall guys could have been left out, as they are totally irrelevant to the story and are not funny either.
This is a ensemble romantic comedy, without the comedy or real romance. Everything just seemed so forced and rushed to the point, it just took me out of the whole experience. I just can't see how people in their mid twenties can enjoy a movie such as this. I could understand teens that have altered realities, but this is too much. I don't necessary agree with a lot of the insight and perception on males and females. But at least it tried, and to a certain extent I could somewhat understand it. Even if the one dimensional characters ruins it. But with the running time, I guess they did what they thought was right. The climax was super rushed and just seem to happen out of nowhere. Overall, I thought this movie was pretentious and annoying. And almost not watchable, but since I didn't fall asleep while watching this, I give it a 3.5/10. Well at least it's better than "Grown Ups".3.5/10
I have watched and critiqued my fair share of movies and cannot find any reason that this movie is below a 7.5. First, I do not rate comedies above 7.5 because they do not have the "wow" factor that most dramas or suspenseful films have. I will say, Act Like A Woman, Think Like A Man, was 2 hr and 10 minutes long and I wish it were longer; I enjoyed it that much. The cast was an excellent choice and each character played their role perfectly. It was a great combination of comedy, drama, and romance. I would highly recommend seeing this movie. And again, I do not rate comedies above 7.5 so this movie gets my highest rating! If you see it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Shame on STARZ for rating it 2.5 stars. Give it four stars!
This movie is about the guys turning the table on the girls, getting caught, then the makeup. So, a group of female friends are taking advice from a relationship book on how to act around a certain guy. Like is he a moma's boy, does he have ambition, does he have a career, the 90 day rule. They go on dates and are puzzles to the guys till the guys discover Steve Harvey's book and realize the girls are reading it and there are chapters based on each of their situations. So the guys start taking the advice of the book and doing what the book says. The girls think they have met their dream guys until they find out the guys are reading the book too. Of course, all of the couples think they really like each other and smooth everything over at the end.FINAL VERDICT: OK , best for a girls night flick.
