After Ben Garvey foolishly turned back to crime, he thought his life was over when he was sentenced to death by lethal injection. But his death sentence isn't quite what it seems, as Ben regains consciousness near an eerie psychiatric ward, where he's told he's been hired as the groundskeeper. With the state of his soul in question, and the love for his wife and daughter all the more real and powerful, Ben must figure out if he's truly cheated death, or if he's become part of something far more sinister.

I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Fantastic!
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
The screenplay follows the life of Ben, a former recluse, married and father of a girl, who will be involved with crime again, by necessity, after being fired. The film is quite emphatic at this point, showing his doubts and problems of conscience. Invariably caught in the act, he's sentenced to death and executed. From here, the film becomes confused, following Ben into a new life, as a gardener of an Oregon psychiatric institution. The mystery settles over what has happened to him and, in our mind, all the hypotheses are possible, from a strange and paranormal phenomenon to a crazy government conspiracy. It's clear, however, that he's confined to a specific place, a small town he cannot leave. The script has some holes and unclear issues, leaving a lot open, and we usually know as much as the main character. With me, this worked well, kept me focused and attentive. Paul Walker gave life to Ben and was competent in this task. In fact, for me (i'm never a fan of "Fast and Furious"), it's his best movie I've seen, to date. Bob Gunton also did a good work. Cinematography is enjoyable, but it doesn't bring anything extraordinary beyond some clever shooting angles. This is one of those movies that leaves us not knowing what to think and not knowing how to talk about it. But I can say, to conclude without making spoil, that this film reminded me, to some extent, the famous "Shutter Island" with Leo DiCaprio, with the difference that the twists are less convincing and more predictable. But if you're willing to accept the film with it's flaws and paradoxes and simply get carried away by the story, I believe you'll be able to take advantage of what's best. It's not a brilliant movie, it's far, far from it... but it fits perfectly to enjoy some free time.
This is one of those movies that keep you guessing and/or confused up till the end. It could have gone either way, good or bad. You are led to believe one thing is happening (purgatory), then that something completely different is happening (mental illness) and in the last few minutes a whole different truth is reveled. In the end, I was glad to see that everything came together and the movie made sense. Although there may be a few holes in the story, I feel it was well done and thought provoking. I didn't think that it was boring or slow. The acting was acceptable. Overall I feel it was a good movie that leaves you with something to think about. Well worth a watch.
Intriguing and truly amazing film. This film not only has an amazing plot twist it also shows the raw and sincere talent of the recently deceased Paul Walker. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes mysteries or to someone who watched and enjoyed shutter island. If you do not watch this i promise you are missing out on a astonishing performance by all of the cast.I think the film has something we can all relate to, I personally am i very hard person to please but this film 100% did the trick. It is a travesty that Paul Walker is no longer with us he was an amazing actor and you could tell by all of his performances how dedicated he was to his roles. RIP.
The cast's acting is definitely not the downfall of this movie. However it was a little bit dragging, then they tried to put in the twist and it never made go "what?!" or "what is going on here?!" instead i just simply said "really?... its obvious what the reality is and what the institution is trying to do" after all its said and done, when Ben goes back home... whats next? 1. he has no identity because apparently he is dead. how can a dead man live unnoticed? 2. surely the FBI or who the hell ever is responsible will do something about a man who was sentenced to execution is now freely roaming the state of Texas.the story line was simply a disappointment, it did not make sense and it does not add up.if you haven't seen shutter island, now that/s a movie with the twist this one tried to do!
