My Girlfriend's Boyfriend
April. 22,2010 PGWhen Ethan arrives at the airport just in time to declare his undying love for his girlfriend, love appears to have conquered all. The scene, however, is really the ending of Ethan's novel, which his agent calls "unrealistic." Ethan soon meets a waitress, Jesse, and falls in love with her despite her growing devotion to Troy, a charming businessman. But the line between reality and fiction becomes increasingly blurred.

To me, this movie is perfection.
Good story, Not enough for a whole film
everything you have heard about this movie is true.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
I went into My Girlfriend's Boyfriend expecting a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it is actually quite unique. This charming film features good acting, realistic dialogue and a clever story. In fact, part of me wanted to re-watch this movie immediately after viewing it for the first time. Well done, Mr. Tufts.
if your going to watch this movie and only pay half attention, like i kind of did, at the end your going to be a bit confused.while watching the movie im thinking that alyssa milano (jessie) is actually dating two people, when in fact shes really not. the character troy is simply the character in ethans book that becomes published in the end of the movie. so the whole time im sitting here thinking "man this is pretty messed up, this chick is dating two guys at the same time, in which there relationships are becoming pretty serious, and thats just not cool to cheat like that" i had to come to this site and read the user reviews to understand troy was simply a character in the book.all in all its a pretty cool twist on t he movie, but it had me thinking that this chick has serious issues. who knows maybe you'll pick up on it in the ending and im just dumb.
This is a strange title for a movie and I was curious to see where it would take us. Milano stars and is also the producer, so somewhat a vanity project but she is very good in it.Alyssa Milano is Jesse Young, working as a waitress at a small café in Utah. She is bright and friendly, and enters into small-talk banter easily with the customers.Christopher Gorham is Ethan Reed, "writer", but having trouble getting published. We see a meeting with his publisher and she tells him he needs to come up with better ideas. When Ethan is in Jesse's café she notices him writing in a journal, they strike up a conversation, he goes away with her phone number and permission to call it.But just after he leaves Michael Landes as Troy Parker comes into the café and also strikes up a conversation with Jesse, and also leaves with her number. Troy is more handsome, wealthier, and seemingly more attractive in all areas than is Ethan. So much of the running time of the movie is witnessing Jesse dating and starting to fall in love with two men, Ethan and Troy, and she seems to like them equally. Quite a quandary which is worked out very well in the final scenes. My wife and I enjoyed this movie, a bit better than its IMDb rating would suggest.MAJOR SPOILERS: In fact Troy did not exist at all. Ethan was the only one dating Jesse. After Ethan's meeting with his publisher (Carol Kane) he decided to use his own experiences but write in a more interesting character, and he came up with Troy. So as Ethan and Jesse go about, doing things, and deepening their relationship, we see that played out as Troy and Jesse, the story of his new book which, when he is finished, becomes his first published work. Jesse however was reluctant to commit to Ethan, a great guy, because she knew he wanted a family but she cannot have children, a fact that broke up her first marriage. But Ethan assures her adopting children will be fine, he is committed to her. They end up happily ever after.
It's amazing what you will find on Netflix: Watch Instant. I occasionally surf the Instant Queue section using my Xbox 360 to find some TV show I can never keep up with, a short film, or even a full length film I've heard nothing about. When I saw the title, it got my attention. When I saw Michael Landes in the cast, I pressed play. Ever since seeing Final Destination 2 in 2003 I've had a man crush on Landes. Not much has changed about his persona, or way of acting since 2003. That's a good thing. The film, to my knowledge, was in very limited release. It had almost ZERO marketing at all, and very few critics had reviewed it. It's a damn shame too, because I wasted time seeing Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Grown Ups, when I could've been seeing this feel good, cleverly made rom-com.Ethan (Gorman) is a stressed out, hopeless writer who after his recent publishing rejection, is now thinks of giving up writing. As he sits alone and stressed at a coffee shop he runs into a young divorced girl named Jesse (Milano). Jesse and Ethan get to talking and socializing, and it ends with Jesse giving Ethan her phone number.Right after a happy Ethan leaves the shop, an older confident advertising executive comes in the shop and starts to socialize with Jesse as well. Jesse now finds herself in the mix of two different guys, and she is torn on which one she will pick. This is where Jesse's life begins to hit a point of confusion and stress over Mr. Right. The best part about the film is the ending. I will not spoil anything, but it's one of the most unexpected endings I've seen in recent years. There is not a whole lot to say about My Girlfriend's Boyfriend other than that it's a very humble yet interesting film. It's got easy romantic dialog that flows nicely, as well as three young and vibrant cast members I look forward to seeing more of.Especially Alyssa Milano as I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Hall Pass.Starring: Alyssa Milano, Beau Bridges, Michael Landes, and Christopher Gorham. Directed by: Daryn Tufts.
