A Disappointing Continuation
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
For the life of me, I do not know where all over the top hatred, and negative press revenues, for this movie, are coming from.Did you all watch the same movie I did? I watched this movie, knowing from the beginning, that it had an all star cast, and I admit, some of my favorite actors, and in my opinion, they all gave great performances! Kudos to the casting director! The little girl, Danielle Rose Russell (Grace), had one of the most emotional, heart wrenching, non speaking scenes, in the entire movie! She and Bradley Cooper killed it! I cried, and still do cry, every time that scene comes on. Very emotional, and highly believable. When I watch a movie, it isn't so much the witty dialogue, or over the top action sequences, that draw me in, it is the expressions, and non verbal communication, between the movies characters/actors! I have to be able to relate in some way, to the circumstance or situation. The story has to be believable! This movie was loaded, with tons of non verbal communication, and I loved it! Cameron Crowe hit it out of the ball park with this one! I love Cameron Crowe's movies! He has away of writing and directing, that suits my sensibilities, and exposes the raw human condition! Add a story line, that is highly believable, filmed in a beautiful location, along with the mesmerizing chemistry, between Bradley Cooper, (Brian Gilcrest), Rachel McAdams(Tracy Woodside), Emma Stone(Alision Ng), Bill Murray(Carson Welch), and John Krasinski(John "Woody" Woodside) and every one of the remaining co-stars, it all added up for me, to be an wholesomely entertaining, emotionally charged, heartfelt drama, with a dash of quirky humor, thrown in for good measure! Also, I love the fact, there was zero gratuitous nudity, sexual exploitation, or foul language! Mega points and respect from me, for not going after the low hanging fruit! Believe it or not, not one f bomb was uttered, during the entire movie! That has to be some kind of record, and worthy of some recognition! All in all, Aloha, was in my estimation, a great movie, and proof that "paid for" movie critics, don't always have it right!
They were stretching the movie so bad. I am disappointed for sitting through the whole movie. It was just a waste of time. One of the worst movies I have ever seen along with Tarzan(2016)Bad casting terrible acting. That is all I want to say and I don't recommend this to anyone unless they want to kill themselves or just waste their 107 minutes from their life. I really want to go to the director and tell him what a disappointment he is and then I am going to think about how disappointed I am from my self for watching the whole movie. I believe that even I could make a better movie out of these actors and story and it would not even be hard. Just flock all those people and their totally fraud movie. I would be ashamed to put this in the theaters even if I would make a ton of money. The worst scene is the one with the party with the Hawaiian locals. It was just extremely boring and sh atty. I am much prouder for the time wasted to write this review than I am for watching the movie. If you were getting ready to watch it you still have time to quit guys. Fock this movie.........
Cameron Crowe's Aloha was definitely a disappointment considering we all know how talented the director was in movies like Jerry Maguire and Vanilla Sky.But this was definitely not as compelling as the movies I previously mentioned despite having great talent in its cast from Bradley Cooper,Emma Stone,Rachel McAdams,Bill Murray,John Krasinski,Danny McBride and Alec Baldwin.Aloha tells the story of Brian Gilchrist,a defense contractor who returns to Hawaii for a project that involves a satellite being launched in space. He reconnects with an ex-girlfriend who has issues with her present husband who happens to be extremely silent. Also,he also meets Allison,a fighter pilot. No question that the screenplay written was definitely lacking and insubstantial as it was a predictable and clichéd love story from beginning to end. Also,we are faced with a lot of one-dimensional characters despite the fact that they are presented to be far from being one.Added to that,we also get a film that lacks realism and charm as a love story.Crowe should have worked more on the script because he has the talent to make a movie that is a lot better than this.
I don't understand the bad rating for this movie, at all! Great movie man. Wonderful cast, and the movie has greats moments and some powerful messages. Shaking my head at the 5 rating on IMDb. 10/10. All i can say after watching the movie, and speaking about the low ratings it gets is that the movie targets exactly the why of the low rating it has. People's lack of understanding, care and..well, love. I advise you to watch this. Just for sake of having to add the necessary 10 lines of text for the IMDb review - which i don't understand; when the world communicates at 140 characters at a time - again, i would watch the movie, if you haven't already.
