I love this movie so much
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
hyped garbage
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Suspense, Crime, Thriller with comedy is a such combination which fascinates me always.Big nothing is no exception and is n absolute thriller comedy. Everything goes wrong in plan but on the same time sudden twist in the scenes doesn't let viewer to loose their rhythm.David Schwimmer and Alice Eve played their part perfectly. I can't count the shocks I received while watching this. But the punchline is "Never a dull moment".The pace of movie is good. I am not habitual of sad endings thus I rated less but each moment before climax is awesome!!!
Forget David Schwimmer from 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' and get to know this David Schwimmer, a man who can act and not be silly all the time. With him teaming with one of today's comedy best Simon Pegg with a good looking Alive Eve, all in a background of dark comedy you will have one of the funniest movie made in a long time. You take a movie and twist it, it might look better, but if you twist it multiple times it might look ugly, somehow Big Nothing was twisted so many times yet it ended up looking very very good. The movie will deliver you a great laugh with a plot that makes you want more. More comedy movies should be like this since sadly comedy movies always get poor ratings but this gets a very nice high one and it's one of those movies that can be watched again and still get the same satisfaction from it. Dark comedy at its best, amazing characters, and an excellent plot.
In the beginning Charlie Wood is an ordinary family man, who pushes his little daughter on a swing. We are in a small town in Oregon.Charlie's wife Penelope is a cop and he used to be a teacher. Now he gets a lousy job as a call center employee and gets fired on his first day.His former colleague Gus knows how to get some cash. They would blackmail Reverend Smalls who has frequently turned up in the company database of visitors to illegal porn websites. Also Josie McBroom, a former teenage pageant queen takes part in the deal.Something goes wrong and a man of the cloth ends up dead. But it's not the Reverend, it's his wife's lover Max.It's Charlie who kills the man by dumping him in a septic tank thinking he was dead already. And Reverend's wife ends up with an axe in her head, something Josie does. The wife had killed the Reverend. Also a policeman ends up dead by slipping on a toilet and breaking his skull. Now all they have to do is get rid of the bodies. There's 2 million dollars for them to share, something the Reverend had left. But things don't always happen as planned. Now here's a twisted movie.Big Nothing (2006) is directed by Jean-Baptiste Andrea.David Schwimmer does a great job as Charlie, the decent man who makes a wrong decision.Natascha McElhone is terrific as his wife Penelope.Simon Pegg is brilliant as Gus.Alice Eve is marvelous as Josie.Jon Polito is fantastic as Agent Hymes, who has diabetes.Mimi Rogers is very good as Mrs. Smalls. Also great work by Julian Glover, who plays 80 year old blind man. It's enjoyable to watch how Shcwimmer's character turns from the nice guy to...something else.To this man who's capable of killing a man.In one scene he lets the diabetic agent Hymes eat a lollipop and die. This is a comedy that has very dark humor.I had a good time watching it.
from a plus side a good story, not overly predictable nor overly complex - a viable watch after a long day. Comparable to 'Very bad things' or 'Edmond' in its darkly comedic tragedy Big Nothing seems to be split down the middle for me...on one hand it is great as the darkly comic disaster with a fun yet uncertain plot reminding me of lock stock yet it is wrongly cast for this comparison. Imagine a younger cockier skank in the lead female role and something like of Colin Farrel's 'in bruges' character as one of the lead males resulting in an edgier take on big nothing. Not to say the comedic side of Schwimmer/Pegg (who where okay but definitely not great in Run Fatboy Run) don't work well here - they do nicely but it creates a slightly out of place lighter edge to the movie......overall i'm glad i watched it - it was worthy of me writing my first IMDb review.... enjoy
