It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

What a diasappointing film. Beginners has a lot going for it; its a comedy, highly rated and features an oscar winning performance. However, the film itself is notfunny at all. The only jokes are repeated many times - the childish voices and giving the dog subtitles. These jokes didnt make me smile even once and by the end they were just very annoying. The actors are also very disappointing and none of their characters are very memorable, inuding oscar winning Christopher Plummer. He is undeserving of the award and is defnitealy the weakest performance from any supporting winner I have seen. Perhaps Michael Sheen for Midnight in Paris or Kenneth Brannagh for My Week with Marilyn would be more deserving winners. The direction is very difficult to understand. There are regular montage shots during the film that seem to mostly feature US presidents. The introduction to Christopher Plummer is also a collection of about twenty shots of him in different outfits talking to the camera. Neither of these techniques are neccessary and instead they just confuse the viewer. All in all, a poor film. Not worth seeing for any reason.

BeginnersA different perspective to peek into the family drama genre by metaphorically surviving through analyzing the changes in humanity, love and relations is easily a winning script. The writer-director Mike Mills is not only a smart observer that applies the ideology on paper but also aces in executing that paper on screen that will only speak wonder. Ewan McGregor; the protagonist carries it off with head held high and is supported thoroughly by a great cast and performance i.e. Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent. Beginners has an eerie perspective, powerful concept and amusing characters that is enlightened by stellar performance, perfect editing and excellent execution.

Beginners is about the story of Oliver (Ewan Mcgregor), an about to be middle-aged man as he falls in love, loses someone, and goes through life. A slow but charming set of memories, experiences and decisions that is gonna make the spectators feel sometimes related to the dynamics of nostalgia and regret, but also about happiness.Beginners is a rare, witty and sentimental film which wanders through memory, nostalgia and life. This piece subtly shows its viewers how romance, parenthood, and childhood are rather a single sentimental experience, which occasionally expresses itself through nostalgia, desire, happiness and fear.

its great virtue is the accuracy to present sides of solitude. the need to escape from yourself. the small joy, the fight against death, the ordinaries duties who defines choices, the run to a sketch of happiness. the acting does each of points credible and almost seductive. a film about beginnings. and the revelations of the trip. slice of ordinary life, it is a film who not must be nice or victim of success. but only a slice of small conflicts and strange solutions. and could be enough. because it is simple to transforms reality in your shadow. the performance of Christopher Plummer is one of the most important arguments.
