It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
The premise of this film had potential to be a really good enjoyable slasher but it failed. Low budget doesn't always mean a bad film but think it does here. Caitlin Gerard as Ashley is appalling in this. The rest of the cast is better but not by much. Still watched it. It was OK to pass the time. Needs more gore to be a slasher horror or needs more psychological twists to be effective. I can watch many different types of horrors and whether they cost 10 dollars or 10 million dollars to make, usually I find something enjoyable about my favourite genre. Not this time. I got bored. And Ashley screaming just made me want to vomit. I think even if the acting was slightly more convincing it would be a better watch. Alas it isn't so.
This is an Ultra-Low-Budget Slasher Entry that was made by some Youtube "Personalities" that is a Good Effort and has Enough Underlying Modern Angst about the Internet's Scary Possibilities that makes it "Worthy".Every Era has its Fears Personified in Films. Poverty in the 1930's, Post WWII Anxieties in the 1940's, Atomic Radiation in the 1950's, "The Man" in the 1960's, and so on. So here is one for the New Millennium. After All, the Internet is a Wonderful and Scary Place so it is Ripe for the Would Be Horrors to Manifest itself in the Movies.Who better to give that Fear a Face than these Youtube Yahoos. They Manage to be somewhat Creative but can't Help Themselves when it comes to Clichés like Jump-Scares. They Really seem to be Above that Tired Genre Convention. But the Film does stay away from the Shaky Cam, Mumbling and Gratuitous Nudity that has become SOP in the Modern Age. So Overall this is a Pretty Good Try from some Youngsters. The Acting is Surprisingly Good from Catlin Gerard and Ranging from Acceptable to Verging on Cringe Inducement from the rest of the Non-Pros.
Should anyone ask me the reason why I watched this movie, my response would be, "It was on... and it seemed interesting."This movie seemed to be some kind of cross between "Pulse," "Cry_Wolf" and "Hackers," but had none of the suspense, complexity, sincerity or, quite frankly, the depth. Jump-out-of-your-seat scares were minimal, but I'll disregard that as not all horror or slasher movies need to be scary to be good.It wasn't the acting that made the movie bad. The acting was fairly decent, but it was the script and plot that needed the most work. You could tell by the end of the movie, some of the main cast were bored to tears. And it's understandable why as there seemed to be only four scenes in the movie, just recycled and repeated. Party-scare scenes-Main Girl is going crazy-class scenes. There is absolutely very little plot and what are supposed to be scares, are pretty much just the same jump sequences over and over again. It's repetitive, and by the end, arduous. Now let's talk about the ending. The last three minutes of the movie are devoted to explaining a "Cry_Wolf"-esque practical joke... except that it's not a joke and everyone around her is just a psycho who would be better off as tertiary or background characters in "The Following." Adding insult to injury, the group is apparently a a distant branch to the hactivist group Anonymous (also making references to popularized memes from 4chan). While Anonymous and 4chan have made some fervent, rather amoral, attempts at justice, killing for the sake of creating a viral serial killer seems just a tad of a stretch. A rather insulting stretch for those of us well-versed in recent media. And now, after considering this movie all over again, my final thoughts on this movie are, "Go find a stream site that's playing 'You're Next.' It won't insult you're intelligence too much, and it's a lot more fun to watch."
I read a lot of the reviews here before watching it and quite honestly I was just bored so I watched it.This movie isn't nearly as bad as the reviews given on IMDb. I thought it was definitely a lot better than the 1/10 that many of you have given.Seriously if you want to watch a movie that has a few jump moments, then this is for you!I liked the acting, I liked the storyline. It's nothing original no but it was still quite entertaining. I jumped and maybe just maybe I screamed a few times too!I am curious why it got such really bad reviews. The ending was pretty banging lol. Or should I say lulz? The people who gave this such a poor review should keep in mind not every movie can be a huge production with millions of dollars spent to make it. This movie was low budget but it was still worth it. I am glad I watched it and I hope...dare I say it? But I hope there is a sequel! Great job acting and directing. This movie was right up my alley.
