Why so much hype?

Lack of good storyline.
Absolutely brilliant
To The WonderTicking for almost 2 hours, the character's perspective wears off quite early despite of having depth and development in it, to a point that its exhaustingly annoying even though it may contain some concrete material. Terrence Malick's strength relies a lot upon the execution and its eerie yet beautiful cinematography that defines its feature and filters apart from other's way of conveying a message. Olga Kurylenko is convincingly good and is supported thoroughly by Been Affleck, Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams. To The Wonder relies a lot upon one's taste but if accounting the craft or even a genuine point or a soul to explore in it, it barely has anything to offer the audience.
It's a wonder this film was ever made. It's not To the Wonder. It is Too Too Awful. I am stunned that Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem signed on to make this drivel. I am stunned that I watched to the end. It's such a failed attempt at an artsy movie. All of the twirling around outside and whispered minimalist dialogue and just bizarre stuff like Marina licking a tree outside. And the flashbacks and flash forwards...too much weirdness. I don't want to see any of these actors again for a good long time because I am ticked off at all of them.
This is a very silent movie. I could barely hear the words they're saying. I thought there's something wrong with my home theater. So this is the style. But why? Don't they have something to say? Like a little louder? Only near the end I could hear 'em "yelling".I didn't really understand about the movie. The subtitles didn't really help. The film didn't really explain who is who. I got lost all the time. Especially about the struggling of faith experienced by Father Quintana. What's really happened to him? Does he want to have a lover? Because he seemed to talk about love all the time.Anyway, I love to see Marina. Her dancing, her emotion, her fragile heart. Sometimes she really looks like Brittany Murphy. And thank you so much for the view and nice cinematography, anyway. I really love it. Oh, is it true that Marina had sex with other guy because Neil never "touch" her? I'm so curious.
There is a amazing film in here, somewhere. I love the music choices, the actors and the cinematography. There are some really interesting scenes in here. But the film falls on Malick's usual traps. The Thin Red Line was saved for me when we actually got to know the characters a bit better. But the fault of Malick is his love for voice over and character's running around in pretty pictures. In the scenes where the characters actually gets to act against one another are great. And do not think Malick should have thrown all voice over and all silent moments. They are especially effective in the first part of the film when Olga Kurylenko & Ben Affleck fall in love. But it simply gets tedious when that's the entire film. There are scenes like when Affleck throws Kurylenko out of a car which could have been amazing, but because the way the film is made it loses a bit of it's impact. The scene where Javier Bardem talks to the janitor in the church was amazing and it became even more apparent that Malick really can direct actors in the scene with the friend played by Romina Mondello. If only Terrence Malick did not edit all these moments away, his films would be much better.
