To me, this movie is perfection.
It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
I'm not sure if it is a saying or if I'll be quoting it correctly if it is, but here goes: some of its parts are better than the sum of its parts! So I actually liked a couple of the sketches, but as a whole there were a bit too many moments that just didn't work. The humor generally speaking is just silly, so if you don't like that, you may as well stay away generally. The movie has a sick humor, which also may also work in its favor while you watch it or against it. It doesn't take any prisoners and Boll does make fun of himself. n the other hand sometimes you can't tell how much truth there is behind the jokes. Like when he repeats that some drivers of a specific nationality have to be shot on both his audio commentaries (entertaining to listen to, to a degree by the way), you do wonder where the joke ends and the his true nature/feelings start. He surely is one who likes to provoke (which is why the audio commentaries are always a hoot to listen to, if you are not too easily offended and have a general hate regarding his personality) ...
I am a big fan of the video game "Postal 2," and I thought this film was more faithful to its source material than other video game movies. There are lots of awful jokes and over-the-top action sequences. Honestly, that over-the-top action is one of my favorite aspects of the film. I'm not going to spoil anything, but there are some scenes towards the end of the movie that show some great action. Everybody has their preferences when it comes to action. Another thing I like about this movie is the music. Some of these songs are so catchy and memorable that I'll start humming them out of nowhere. The acting, for the most part, is very poor. However, Zack Ward and Dave Foley are pretty good. The other actors are bad, but I do like how there's cameos from both Uwe Boll, the film's controversial director, and Vince Desi, the creator of the Postal video games. There are DEFINITELY things about the movie that are terrible. For example, the plot gets way too complicated. This is where I get into some spoilers. Terrorists are trying to steal a flu serum that is contained inside penis-shaped "Krotchy" dolls (another reference to Postal 2), and want to spread it across the United States. Our main characters, Dave, Richie, and "Dude", are trying to stop these terrorists from spreading the disease. However, Richie informs them that their original plan was to get ahold of the virus and spread it across the ENTIRE PLANET. The whole reason this is the plan is because it was the "prophecy" written in a bible that DAVE WROTE. Why didn't he say anything? He doesn't even know anything about it. The plot is WAY too complicated, and has almost nothing to do with the Postal games. There are some moments in the film that I do find funny. There is a scene where a car explodes and is shot up into the air, then it lands on the crazy job interviewer from earlier in the film. I find that funny because it's so unexpected. Overall, Postal isn't the worst movie ever, but it's not good. There are some good aspects that ALMOST redeem it, but the ridiculously complicated plot, mostly terrible acting, cringy moments, and unnecessary scenes, such as the bank shooting make the movie worse than it should be. It is a good adaptation of Postal 2, with the main characters, terrorists, exaggerated action, and Krotchy dolls. That's my thoughts on Postal, I'd like to hear yours as well.
(3%) There's three type of people as far as Postal the video game is concerned. There's those that make up the majority who had a quick, cheap snigger at it back when it was first released years ago, then they quickly moved on and forgot all about it, those that thought it was the best thing ever for about a week (mostly 14 year old boys with anger issues) and then there's Uwe Boll, a man that clearly thought "Wow, this would make a fantastic movie project!". And as expected the movie itself is awful, plain and simple, but not only that it's also horrendously mean-spirited and unpleasant to a point of minor worry. Boll shows a mixture of blind confidence, with a burning desire to create ill made attention through the most base and flagrant manner possible. Although the fact is that everything here is handled so clumsily and wrong footed that all the offensive elements, for which there are many, don't amount to anything besides a disapproving tut and a quick wonder how anyone so clearly lacking any genuine comedic talent ever managed to direct a movie intended to be funny. It's a crass, lousy stinker from the mind of a man void of any sort of moral compass or understanding of how comedy works.
Uwe Boll clearly doesn't know how to make movies. Granted I'm no expert either but someone of his caliber should at least know how to hold the camera steady or get a tripod! This movie is not only a total failure but is outrageously offensive. I don't know how one is supposed to get a laugh out of a movie that outright adds a 9/11 vision into the film. That is a smack in the face to the nearly 3000 deaths that occurred that day and to loved ones of those deaths. To top it off, there's even a a guy playing as Osama Bin Laden, the guy that orchestrated the attacks. Seriously? Oh and then he has the nerve to include Nazis, the people that destroyed 6 million Jewish people. This is by far the worst comedy movie I have ever watched. It's on the same sick sense of humor as Tosh.0.
