Absolutely the worst movie.

It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

Its basic virtue - to meet the flavor and the seduction of comics. the second good thing - the cast. Gottfried John is the perfect Cesar and Roberto Benigni is himself in the most inspired manner. and the chemistry between Clavier and Depardieu is real impressive. so, a lovely film. for so many motifs than it could be one on your list of "must see".

I saw this movie because I like Asterix and Obelix and I like movies, So I thought this movie will be nice, but actually not.I already knew the comics are better because Asterix is a typical story for comics.But I can't give less than 6/10 because the characters are really like the comic.Roberto Begnini is also a great actor en shows that in this movie.I didn't laugh during this movie because the jokes are too bad.But what I liked during this movies were the resemblances between the comic and this movie.Roberto is not only a great actor he speaks also french very well.The most French movies have good humor with funny moments but this movie is actually boring.In general I don't like comedies.Obelix walking with the stone is also pretty good.Many things were good made and thats the reason why I give 6/10.Actually I didn't expect a nice movie before I watch this movie.The next time I will not watch movies of Asterix and Obelix.

I have watched the movie in danish, and i love seeing asterix and obelix like this, with real actors.I hope we will see more movies like this, they are definitely worth buying.This movie manage to be ridiculous and serious at the same time, without the need to ruin the movie with nonsense (like in one of the cartoons), or the new asterix movie where they directly put a black scene "this scene is to violent to be shown" instead of a fighting scene, not only dose it interrupt the movie with nonsense, but it also reminds us thats its only a movie at a most annoying place in the movie.

Although people are saying that the actors didn't capture the essence of the characters, I thought that most of them did! The only exceptions are Getafix, who didn't look at all wise, just demented, and Vitalstatistix who wasn't egotistical enough (Impedimenta was too tall as well). I thought Geriatrix and his wife were perfect, and Christian Clavier (who was also in the marvelous Les Visiteurs), was hilarious (especially when he got a spider in his mouth!) I have read all the Asterix comics, and I thought this film captured the essence perfectly, although, I agree, it would have been cool to see the pirates!10 out of 10!
