Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Armored (2009): Dir: Nimrod Antal / Cast: Columbus Short, Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Lawrence Fishburne, Fred Ward: Standard action farce about bravery and recklessness. A crew of armored transport guards plan to rob millions from their own company but as predicted, everything that can go wrong, does including that witness that gets shot. Directed by Nimrod Antal who can shoot action but this film presents nothing really new or interesting. Even the production values showcase nothing new or interesting to resonate any excitement or care. Columbus Short is one of the few redeeming elements as a guard struggling to make ends meet, yet refuses to assist in the heist. Matt Dillon plays his long time friend and co- worker who sympathizes with Short's issues and promises that his fears will not happen. These two friends will be at odds as to the plan and will cat and mouse each other but the resolution is less than flattering. Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne play fellow transport guards but they are totally cardboard. The rest of the characters are pretty much there to die at some point while trying to locate and kill Short. This film could have played out a theme regarding brotherhood and friendship but it seems poised only as an action violence flick at its very lowest. The result is standard action junk that should be crushed by an armored truck. Score: 3 / 10
(38%) A movie that really did fall between the cracks as I hadn't even known of its existence until I stumbled upon its trailer tucked away in a DVD's sub-menu. And after feeling somewhat hopeful for this maybe being a decent watch, with its good cast and potentially exciting premise, but after watching the movie itself I can now see why the studio maybe wasn't brimming with high hopes of this being the next big hit. This though isn't a bad little movie. It's entertaining, quite well bolted together, and as a simple time passer there are many worse films out there; but it's still badly plotted, overly tame (it should have been a hard R), and it just doesn't offer enough in terms of true thrills. Worth a look for free otherwise don't bother.
Armored is the story of a broke security guard who is tempted into joining a staged hijack in order to loot money. No successful heist takes place without a hiccup or two, and in this movie as well, the surprise element is rather funny is what i would call. To imagine, there would be no movie plot,if the hijackers weren't seen stashing the money is a bit far fetched to say the least. What follows is a series of events, which are predictable to say the least. It is a bit sad to see established actors like Jean Reno (of Leon the professional) and Laurence Fishbourne resorting to such low budget flicks. Its almost as though, they are broke themselves :) There is some pretty bad acting in the movie, with half the characters portraying a confused and uninterested attitude. Matt Dillon is the only person who stands out. It is safe to say, that this movie would have been a disaster without him. On the whole, with a run time of a little under 90 mins, this is not a bad watch at all.
This movie had a great concept. But in the end, the plot was just dumb. It made no sense. The "good" guy has a change of heart mid-heist because he wants no blood on his hands, only every action he takes causes more blood to be shed. It wasn't realistic. I think given the situation, he would have had to continue with the status quo once in as deep as he was. Why cause all the chaos? I never want to see the good guy get killed, but as I watched this movie, I did. I enjoy a good heist movie, and this one had an all star cast, but all I can wonder is how this ever got funding. It disappoints on every level. The plot has to be well developed, and this one wasn't. Given the main character's financial dilemma, I also think it didn't make sense for him to turn against his partners. It's the kind of movie where a guy like him would go through with it, and perhaps have his conscience nag at him later. Then, some suspense could have been developed in that regard in terms of the other members of the team going to lengths to keep his mouth shut. I really wanted to like this. Instead, I ended up yelling at my TV in anger.
