Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
As usual, Woody Harrelson rules, even with such a laundry list of supporting names. Ideally, this is a character study - the slow disintegration of a fascist street cop, one with no cards left to play - and you can see the inner turmoil move towards utter despair in Harrelson's mien. It's an impressive performance.I guess the root of my disappointment with the overall movie came in the advertising. "The most corrupt cop you've ever seen on screen" evokes the rich Hollywood tradition of amoral officers, Harrelson's character is nothing like the thugs in "Training Day" or "Bad Lieutenant". Most of what goes down in this movie is either implied or anecdotal; it's far more dialogue-driven, anticlimactic ending and all.
Dave Brown (Woody Harrelson) is a brutal Los Angeles police officer from the Rampart Division. The police force is facing many scandals and then Dave beats up a motorist who crashed into his vehicle then ran away. The beating is videotaped by the public and he is under investigation. He has had many questionable actions including the killing of a serial rapist. His personal life is a crazy unorthodox home and sleeping with a mysterious stranger from a bar. We've seen this movie before. It's called 'Training Days'. Before that, it was 'Colors'. And so on. And it's been done better. The major problem is that Woody is by himself too much. He needs a partner to interact with. Woody does a good job, but his character is too single note. The story lack flow. The pacing is monotonous. Woody should do this character, but in another better written cop movie.
Usually when it comes to dirty cops, most people end up detesting them. But this goes in another direction where it sorta builds a slight sympathy for the dirty cop named Dave Brown(Woody Harrelson). Maybe because he only tries to hurt the bad guys and isn't in it for the dirty money nor does he physically hurts women. Even if he is a "power tripping, racist, sexist, arrogant schemer, and chauvinistic cop". He even probably cheated on his wife and he cheats on his taxes. In fact he is such a prick that even the LAPD force wants nothing to do with him and wants him buried. The thing is the whole direction and dialogue is mesmerizing, especially seeing how a dirty cop that isn't all sadistic and evil struggle to keep his family and his badge. Woody Harrelson is just great in this and his performance is captivating to watch. He does a great job of playing the detestable and hypocritical cop that is also methodical and yet his acting makes me have slight sympathy for his character. When he starts to fall apart after his brutality is caught on tape. If you enjoy dirty cop movies this is one of the good ones.7.8/10
I was going to just start blasting off in a torrent of put downs and end with comments such as "Worse movie ever!" and "DO NOT WATCH THIS, EVER!"I was going to end the review here, but the guidelines say a minimum of ten lines. So I will add this... The box above where you can mark if your review has a spoiler, yeah well that isn't an issue with this movie, NOTHING HAPPENS!Again, NOTHING, zero, N. Noth.. NOTHING... HAPPENS!So not to waste your time, anymore...Quite simply it got two stars from me because the acting and the Actors are good.
